3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sample bottle thanks to Richard of Cotswold Finest.
Pours black more viscous than water with a tiny light large bubbled head, dissipating quickly into surface bubbles. Huge boozy aroma, smelling like much more than the stated 4.8%! Fruity rich concentrated date or prune like aroma mixes with oak / vanilla and a smooth sherry or wine connotation. An intriguing dryness. Slight metallic taste on the tongue which Iím less fond of but gives way to a lingering heavily roasted flavour and texture in the mouth. Definitely an interesting beer but still slightly unexciting and with one or two faults.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Black with a small head. Some discrete chocolate flavours but otherwise there wasnít much flavour. A bit, in fact a lot dissapointing. This brewery is capable of better.

2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Iím just not sure if I like this. There is a full flavour, but itís not a stout flavour I recognise. Itís fruit. Then itís meaty steak. Then there is a metallic edge. Finishes neither sweet nor dry.
