COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Curiouser and curiouser - a dark beer called White Rabbit. What’s the story here? Well, on a golden afternoon in late summer 2010, the Fathers’ Folly brewers pursued the fancy of a winter beer, inspired by the twisting and turning imagination of Lewis Carroll, who in 1862 set sail up the Isis from Oxford’s Folly Bridge to tell the tale that became Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.
Rich and toasty, this dark brew is a fine balance of pale, crystal and black malts with Columbus, First Gold and Bramling Cross hops, expertly blended to cast a fruity and spicy spell. Dark and complex, this is a beer to brighten up your winter wonderland and keep you safe and warm when you’re down the rabbit hole.

Bottle at Fin & Loz’s tasting with Jan, Charlotte, Craig, Stella & kids consumed 21.10.11 This bottle purchased in Oddbins Summertown, Oxford sometime ago. Soft in the mouth with a surprising bitterness that I wasn’t expecting. Its quite malty too with some cocoa and then a little lemny dryness also apparent. The appearance is dark with a light haze, fruity, not too bad. A6 A3 T7 P3 Ov13 3.2

Deep dark cola-coloured beer with small, fine-bubbled yellowish cream head. Rich porto- or madeira-like nose, nutty. Like an aged beer, but apparently this sample isn’t beyond its BBdate. In fact, quite nice with the melanoidins. BItterish, woody & hoppy and pretty dry. Sweeter cookies in the finish, but hops remain main feature. Quite good! Light body, watery finish, flavours petering out. A very good British dark ale, with typically British non-existent MF. And yet another one I don’t know where I got it - so...

Bottled, 500ml from Oddbins, Summertown, Oxon. Dark brown with cream head. Firstly, for such a dark beer, whilst you do get some roastiness from the malt, it’s rather understated, this is more on the fruity side for me, a rounded sweet fig note and a touch of avocado. The hops do show their presence, not really bittering but add a slight fungal depth with a slight peppery note too. All in all, pretty decent.

500 ml bottle. From Oxford, England. Thanks Chris!
Dark reddish brown colour with tiny light tan head. Aroma is liquorice, mildly roasted malt, dry bitterish hops and some spices. Dry bitter hops, roasted malt, liquorice and mild coffee. Dry bitter aftertaste. Winter wonderland conditions should be OK. More than half a meter snow and -6°C. Tasty dark ale.
