COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A robust deep copper ale with rich roasted and woody malt flavors and a distinct spicy hop. We used every conceivable way to hop this beer to give it a complex hop flavor and aroma. Grains- Caramel malts give a rich amber hue; Hops-Nuggets, East Kent Goldings and Fuggles are generously used.

I just moved to Concord and have fallen in love with the beer. The IPA is very nice and well balanced - I did not find it exceptionally bitter. Nice caramel colour to it.

UPDATED: DEC 20, 2003 Pours a nice medium copper, with a thick white head, slowly diminishing to leave a nice lace on the glass. Aroma is quite big, with lots of hoppy pine & citrus, and a hint of caramel maltiness. The initial mild caramel sweetness gets taken over by a pretty strong and very enjoyable hoppy attack. All the typical hop flavors - grapefruit, pine, spice, and of course a good bitter finish.

Nice strong hopp-ay aroma with a beautiful deep maroon color. When you swallow some, it's like the hops gently soak into your tongue. A wonderfully balanced IPA.

Slightly hazy amber. Sticky and frothy light tan head. Trace carbonation. Healthy aroma of crystal malts and pine/grapefruit hops. Initially biting with a solid hop bitterness and Pac NW flavors. Lingering caramel aftertaste. Clean and fresh tasting. Medium body. Hops are dominating but there’s enough toasted caramel to balance. Finishes with a lingering hop essence. Very nice.

I have never seen such a head from a bottled beer--thick, tan, four-fingers thick. The lace is just as thick, and sticky too. The color is dark copper, close to a brown ale. It’s also very clear. Close to perfection! Complicated aromas of malt and hops. It has an almost cinnamon sweetness. Awesome dry hop smells waft as the head recedes. Now, I’m detecting strong crystal malt (burnt sugars) aromas. Nice. Starts like a brown ale: dark malt sweetness that quickly captulates to soft hop flavors providing a nice balance to the brew. It is a smooth transition. The aftertaste is all hop which lasts a long time. Dry and moderately carbonated, this is a very good beer.

On cask Boston Beer Summit ’02: Serious hops aroma, very smooth mouthfeel, nice head. Intensely dry hopped, but with enough malt taste to back it up.

This one is intresting, Tasted at Montreal beer fest. Pours a deep orange, with a THICK head that takes FOREVER to disapeer, but leaves very little laceing {weird, isnt it} Aroma is of bitter hops with a sweet malt undertone, almost like green grape. Palate is low carbonation, light and dry. First taste is bitter hop, golding I think, folowed by a grassy floral hop undertone, and VERY dry malt, almost flavourless malt infact. notes of corn oil, dry peach, sodd. Aftertaste is suprisingly dry for an ipa, with a laceing of bitter hop coating every inch of the mouth. Realy good, but can’t compare with others of this style, just not bitter or malty enough. Cheers

Deeeeeep red color, not very typical of an IPA. Thick tan head with a good amount of lacing. Medium body with a very dry, bitter finish. Great for IPA and bitter beer lovers.

Copper amber hue. Big floral nose. Tons of lace, rocky off white head. Nice malts first, light to medium bodied, caramel, then tons of grapefruit, and a real long lingering bitter hopped up resinous finish.

Clear amber body with big beige head. Aroma is somewhat sweet, earthy, lemon, some caramel, light grapefruit. Taste is big hops -- earthy and some grapefruit -- but the toffee/caramel offers a nice sweetness to lend balance. Resiny medium body.
