COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Falling leaves, tranquil winter days and Holiday Cheer herald a season of full-bodied ales. The newest member of our expanding "Limited Release" line of fresh seasonal ales is Concord North Woods Ale. North Woods Ale is a rich brew colored by earthy hues and punctuated by bold tones. It bursts with the vibrancy of the North Woods itself. Enjoy this limited release seasonal ale while enjoying the dazzling colors of the fall, or the brilliance of a crisp white winter. North Woods Ale can be described as a strong ale, a style popular in Great Britain, especially around the holidays. It has a slightly elevated alcohol content to give it a warming feeling.

From the bottle... nice thick head. LImited aroma. Pleasurable body - not too sweet (like most ales of its type) with a good wood hop balance. Good finish.

UPDATED: JUN 17, 2006 Bottle from the package store down the street. Pours a copper color with a tan colored head that dissipates quickly. Can’t detect much in the way of aroma. Very clear but with some suspended yeast particles. Moderate bitterness with a little tannic flavor. Slightly soapy aftertaste. No hop aroma. Moderate carbonation. A drinkable beer, and fits the style, but nothing extraordinary.

The North Woods Ale pours a dark amber/light brown color with a fizzy off-white head. Aroma is of light hops with a hint of perfume and fruit. Sean likes the sweet smell, and says it entices him to drink more. Initial taste is lightly sweet, which carries into the finish. Light body with a creamy mouthfeel. Light alcohol presence.

Pours copper with a white head. Smells of tea, caramel, toffee, pine, some anise. Taste is of pine resin, roses, maple. Finish is metallic.

Nice color, but the head disipates almost immediately. Sweet, fruity aroma and flavor of peaches, and some caramel. Enjoyable, though unspectacular.

Bottle: pours orange red with a small, shortlived tan head. Aroma of caramel, a touch of fruit, and for some reason, a little marzipan. Flavor is mostly caramel malt. Metallic. Light fruit. Bitter, metallic finish.

12 oz bottle. Dark, very clear copper-red, head near-white and quickly diminishing...caramel, cherry and maple and a touch of rustic hops in the warm nose...body rather sour, despite dark fruits and brown sugar character, no hop presence...rather burnt and syrupy at the finish. Hmmm, going to have to go with Ernest on this one...this sample, at least, was nowhere as good for me as the other raters found it.

UPDATED: AUG 9, 2005 On tap @ Lowell Brewing Co: A nice English Strong Ale. Not overowering, but enjoyable.

Pours a transparent dark red with a tall light tan head. Very sweet fruity aroma, very red apple smelling. Sweet sticky hops with some nice maltiness. Taste is very fruity, tastes like fresh strawberries, light caramel malts race throughout. Very smooth with a medium thickness to it. Taste is also slightly yeasty and spicy. The finish has a nice bitterness to round out the unique flavor of this one.
