Dark amber, off white head. Ashy malt aroma, rather old fashioned. Pleasant malty taste with background ash and some sourness. Lingering mid bitter finish. Straightforward, dullish and really quite good.

Bottle that was very kindly passed onto me by Hughie, cheers mate. Consumed 05-05-09 Pours a rich amber colour with a creamy light beige topping, in fact there is also a little haze and there is a touch of yeast in suspension. Aroma is a little earthy hop, tiny hint of metallic notes also picekd up but there is also some spice and good maltiness there as well. Quite soft in the mouth, little fruity, touch of creamy vanilla, custard, where that come from I don’t know but it was there albeit fleetingly, little bit of sourness around the edges and the earthiness of this pulses through again. Its a reasonable beer, but for me could do with a little more oomph.. to be a Winter Ale. A6 A3 F6 P3 Ov13
