3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber pours a hazy straw yellow body with a healthy vanilla head. Aroma of lemony citrus, hay, and spicy ginger, pepper, and coriander. Taste has a lemon rind and lemon grass essence accented by ginger, pepper, and some herbal hops. Just a hint of malt sweetness. Very nice summer beer.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
No love for Wit beers on this site and I am not surprised no one is happy with an experimental/hybrid wit. Its basically a lagered wit, which comes out very much like a lagered Wit, surprising. Pours a very pale golden/clear yellow color with visible carbonation and a small head that eventually fades into nothingness. Aroma is very much like a lagered Wit with a clean lemon zing and lots of coriander. Taste is just straight zingy lemon coriander, not even a blend, more like someone breed lemon coriander. Awesome, the lagering is great actually, really cleans up the rest of the beer and makes it a beautiful easy drinking spiced sensation. I would drink this anytime I am looking for a summer brew. This is the second well done lager I have had from Shmaltz.
22oz bottle, Sam Adams "special" glass.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pour is a cloudy yellow with a large white head. Aroma is some lemon and spice with a bit of yeast. Flavor is some spice but a huge amount of super carbonation which leaves a prickly sensation on the tounge that takes away any other flavor. I donít know what they were going for here but its not working in my book.

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Poured yellow into the glass with thick head. Aroma was bizarre with lots of ginger in the nose. Taste was very heavy in the ginger.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
50cl bottle from Willow Bend Liquors (Tampa, FL). Pours a semi-clear yellow golden with a thick, frothy white head that settles slowly. Strong wheat, barley, spice notes with hints of honey. Flavor has a decidedly ginger taste with honey wheat notes as well. Generally light bodied in nature with a quick finish. For a lager, it actually is pretty good.

A "White Lager". 12oz bottle. Would a White Lager be the same thing more or less as a Weiss..but spiced more like an over-the-top Belgian Wit? I guess so. Thick creamy golden color with a respectable head. Not so subtle spices come through all over the place, but it is really quite an enjoyable beverage. Almost bocky on some levels. Intricate, interesting new addition to the Shmaltz family.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
The golden yellow lager seemed to be a mild attempt at making a saison-wit combination.
The spiciness came out in the first taste and I wasnít thrilled with the sharpness that I took in.

3.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
22oz - Perfect Pour. Hazed light gold, thin fizzy white head. Nose was a full on assault of grassy gingerbread notes that quickly warmed to sweet lemony lavender-like tones. Spicy ginger floral flavor balances on swirls of candied lemon peel and kisses of yeast. Light bodied with moderate carbonation. Probably a love or hate beer. I dig it though as itís quite unique and perfect for some summer food pairings...

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 24, 2008 Bomber. Poured a cloudy yellow with big bubbles and a quickly fading white head. Aroma of lemon, grassy herbs and a mild potpourri of spices dominated by ginger. Flavor here characterized by wheaty and sweet cereal malts (Wit-like), citrus and a slurry of spices and herbs, again mostly ginger which is at the forefront. Thereís also a noticeable fennel presence which gives me the impression that an Italian sausage had been dropped accidentally into my glass. Quite fizzy and soda-like body. Very interesting potion, though the fizziness kind of ruined the experience for me. Draught version is probably better.
