COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This might be the most unique barrel aged lager you will find. Brewed like a barley wine but fermented as a lager then aged on fresh wet Buffalo Trace barrels for 5 months.

A - Pours a murky brown with a bit of orange around the edges and a finger of frothy khaki-tan head atop. The head fades down fairly slowly leaving behind some nice lacing. S - Aroma is a mix of vanilla, oak, and bourbon with some roasted bready malts, dark fruit, brown sugar, molasses, and some booze. T - Starts off with a mix of sweet bready malts with some vanilla and brown sugar. Through the middle, the oak and Bourbon comes through with some roasted malts and molasses. The finish is a mix of sweet bready malts with some oak, vanilla, Bourbon, brown sugar, and booze. M - Medium-full bodied with moderate carbonation. Feels smooth with a warming and sweet finish. D - Very drinkable. Good Bourbon flavors comes through on top of a nice malty doppelbock.

(22oz bottle) very clear deep amber/caramel color with a lasting creamy medium tan head. Nose of caramel, lager yeast is surprisingly still present, raisin, cream, a tinge of saccharin, bourbon, and charcoal. Taste of alcohol, vanilla, charcoal, wood, bourbon, cream, a touch of saccharin, caramel. Nice creamy finish, light alcohol burn that’s appropriate, easy to drink for 10%. Certainly much better than most lagers which I tend to not like.

Big thanks to Matt for sharing this bottle. Transparent ruby brown -- pretty pour. The whiskey is apparent, but doesn’t dominate this one -- nice. Dark fruits, spices, caramel, maybe a bit of licorice? Really interesting flavor. A bit boozy, but a bit of time would mellow this one out a little. Good stuff!

22 oz. bottle: Pours a dark brown with ruby tones & a thin off-white head. Aroma is sweet & oaky with hints of vanilla & a bourbon presence. Flavor is rich with hints of brown sugar, vanilla, and bourbon in the oak flavor finish. Enjoyable for bourbon lovers like me. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pour out of 22 oz bottle, dark brownish ruby red with thin but fluffy tan head, aroma brought big notes of vanilla cake, bourbon, chocolate, coffee and roast, nice oaky notes with a nice caramel, toffee and molasses in there as well, very nice. Taste is a nice big hit of bourbon with dark chocolate, vanilla, oak and some slight caramel/toffee, hints of roast, finishing fairly sweet but slightly dry. Nice.

Light brown, lasting beige head.Woody alcoholic nose.Fizzy unpleasant woody palate, vanilla & harsh alcohol heat which ruins this for me What a waste of time and money !!

Intriguing aroma and basic appearance leads to strong bourbon taste and very warming mouthfeel. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle. Pouts a red brown off white head. Smells sweet brown sugar oak booze raisin or dark fruit. Pretty good beer grows on you. I’d like to age it for a bit see if the sweetness goes down.

Looks like a bunrt maroon sort of look. Smells wheaty and malty. Has this brown sugar scent. Lots of malts. Hint of bourbon and lots of chest burn. Hints of vanilla with an oak finish. Very roasty with lots of german wheat / yeast.

I’m a fan of almost anything barrel aged. I haven’t been a huge fan of Coney Islands brews in the past, but I can honestly say this one is worth a try. Great taste and good aroma, and definitely a good bang for your buck. I bought the 22 oz. bomber and drank it from my beer snifter.
