Deep amber pour with a small cream head. Nose is sticky, caramel, raisins, vanilla, fruit, toffee, and rich. Great on the palate, thick toffee and caramel, followed by vanilla, raisins, wood, hops, and a bitter finish.

Poured from 22oz bottle. Was told I had to try this when I was at my bottle shop and they were right. Dark burnt caramel color with two finger head that dissipates within a few minutes but leaves nice lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel, toffee, fruit and bourbon. Well carbonated with pleasant mouth feel. Taste is excellent. Lots of caramel and malt backbone with the bourbon notes all throughout the drink. Bourbon not overpowering with nice lingering finish at end. Would love to see what this will turn into if stored properly for a few years.

Very good beer. Although it might just be the fact that it is a bourbon barrel aged brew.

Amber brown brew with lots of tan head. Lots of bourbon aroma - vanilla, brown sugar, dark fruit, and burnt caramel. Flavors of vanilla, raisin, caramel, wood, and bourbon. Got more complex and tasty as it warmed.

Bottle. Ruby brown with a tall, frothy tan head. Aroma is strong toasted coconut, caramel, oak, light vanilla and booze. Taste is sweet malt, caramel, toasted coconut, rum cake, vanilla, oak, brown sugar, ripe fruit and booze. Body is medium-full with a strong, bubbly carbonation. Moderate stickiness to this and a moderate warmth from the alcohol. Ends with more toasted coconut, oak, caramel, sweet malt notes, brown sugar, ripe dark fruit and vanilla.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber from XL Grindhouse Salinas. Nose is vanilla, oak, bourbon, with hints of banana and cloves. Clear rusty-amber with a medium beige head. Flavor is peppery, cloves, bourbon, vanilla, and light bitterness and banana. Finishes with light bourbon and alcohol warmth. Even better than the regular Blockhead which is the best of the Coney Island brews.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. The pour was a murky medium brown with a huge (3-4 finger) tan frothy head that dissipated down to a large cap of foam that lasted throughout and had some fair spotty lacing.
The aroma was quite powerful of a toasted bread malt and a leathery doughy yeast with notes of molasses, caramel, brown sugar, dark fruit (plums and raisins), oak and a strong bourbon presence.
The taste was robustly sweet and very malty with notes of caramel, molasses and brown sugar throughout with a hint of dark fruit and a very pronounced bourbon note at the end. The flavor was quite a long winded with a sweet bourbon taste left to linger on the taste buds.
Mouthfeel was medium in body and oily, syrupy and dry in texture with a good strong carbonation.
Overall a fantastic Doppelbock, most likely the best one I have had to date...
