4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
From a bottle during 2011 Craft Lager Fest. Dark clear coppery orange, with a small bubbly head. Smells strongly of whiskey, burnt caramel, oak char, and more caramel. Flavor was whiskey-tastic, but not overtly boozy. Just right amount. Warm booze, burnt caramel, oak, and sweet bittering maltiness. Some toffee as well. Definitely a barrel aged barleywine. Delicious, and not too strong, boozy, or whiskey’d. Not terribly nuanced, but very delightful.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
22 oz bottle. Clear ruby brown with a foamy balsa head. Nose is caramel, pecan, bourbon and wood. Medium to full body with a tingle and an alcohol burn. Taste is butterscotch, bourbon, cola and bitter almond. Barrel aging is a good match for the style, in this case kind of overdone.

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tap at Blind Tiger: Hazy amber pour with a tan thin ring. Sweet yet rounded aroma- some dark caramel, lots of maltose, raisiny with a light bourbon sweetness and spicy oak/ethanol note. Surprisingly less assertive bourbon presence than I anticipated. Big bodied but not cloying. Spicy and woody flavor- not as boozy as I had anticipated. Light buttery oak, peppery oak/alcohol, some plasticy phenolics. Big and lacking subtlety, but gentle.

1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20
Pours half a glass of foam. Very frothy. Its got that thick amber color characteristic of a bock. The rick amber nose is drowned in alcohol. The flavor is malty sweet alcohol finished with tinge. As for the barrel aging, why? Maybe its added some vanilla to this alcoholic bock. ewww.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
(Bottle) Pours glowing dark copper red to mahogany brown with sand coloured head. The aroma holds buttery, coconut-driven, toffee-like, vanilla-ish and woodsy bourbon up front with undertones of new backed/buttery cookies, caramel, crčme brűlée, honey caramelized nuts, bread, milk chocolate, port, orange liqueur, marzipan and noble hops. Some alcohol warmth on the nose. The flavour is medium sweet, light to medium bitter and tiny acidic with notes of fat bourbon (butter, wood, vanilla, coconut and toffee), caramel, cookies, marzipan, nuts, deep toast and noble hops. The mouthfeel is round, soft, smooth, light velvety yet bit sticky with light, soft carbonation. Lingering heavily malty finish with clear woodsy bourbon notes. Near full bodied.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours a medium/dark brown with a light tan head.
Complex aroma of alcohol, dried fruits and caramel malt.
The flavor is boozy and sweet. Lots of the bourbon.
This might need time to mellow out.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
22oz bottle in a snifter. Pours brown with a lacy, light tan head. Aroma of bourbon, some caramel and toasted malts, and some floral hops. Mainly tastes like bourbon, which is great. Smooth texture. A good beer, but that’s mainly because it tastes like bourbon.

22 oz. bottle (batch 2, bottled 5/25/12) via trade with smith4498 - Pours a slightly hazy deep amber color with a one and a half finger thick light tan head. light spotty lacing. Aroma is toasted malt, vanilla, and wood. Quite nice. Flavor is much of the same. Finish is toasty with vanilla. Medium to fully body. The alcohol is noticeable, but not overbearing. Good beer. Thanks Jason.
