COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This might be the most unique barrel aged lager you will find. Brewed like a barley wine but fermented as a lager then aged on fresh wet Buffalo Trace barrels for 5 months.

22 oz bottle. Clear ruby brown with a foamy balsa head. Nose is caramel, pecan, bourbon and wood. Medium to full body with a tingle and an alcohol burn. Taste is butterscotch, bourbon, cola and bitter almond. Barrel aging is a good match for the style, in this case kind of overdone.

I love Buffalo Trace bourbon. That should be the whole review, but I’ll expand. Didn’t know this was aged in BT barrels when i bought it, but damn was i happy about it. the beer exists only to accentuate the awesomeness of buffalo trace. maybe the most bourbon prevelant beer i’ve had, so a bit of a one trick pony, but damn, was it tasty!"

Big malt aroma with caramel and big tan head. Dark ruby garnet color. Exellent taste of brown sugar and maple syrup and molasses. Great bourbon secondary flavor. Slight alcohol warmth. A superior brew

22oz bottle obtained from some shop in San Diego and consumed on my hotel balcony, 18th March 2014. Taken with the most expensive Pizza (room service) I have ever had in my life! I really enjoyed this, certainly different and unlike most beers I have drank over the years. Deep, dark ruby red with a full head. Sweet aroma of malt molasses and hints of bourbon from the barreling. The taste is again fairly sweet with various malty flavours to the fore throughout the brew. The alcohol compliments the taste rather than overruling it and the body feel is smooth and rich (for a lager based beer). Overall a very nice ’night-cap’ and a fitting end to a great sightseeing/drinking day and evening in San Diego.

Poured from a bottle (release #7) into a snifter glass. Aroma- Bourbon, oak/wood, caramel, and toffee. Appearance- A brown-orange almost copper like look. Has good carbonation and some lacing at the top of glass. Taste- Upfront whiskey taste followed by brown sugar, dark fruits, and some sweetness. Palate- Warm mouth fell with the upfront bourbon/whiskey taste. Medium body with a malty sweet finish. Overall- A good sipping beer. It tasted more like a barley wine than a bock the way it was brewed.

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with a frothy tan head that left sticky lacing. Aroma of bourbon, caramel, toffee, vanilla and oak. Flavor was quite sweet and complex with oaky bourbon, caramel/toffee, brown sugar, vanilla and had a touch of dark fruit with a sweet and warming finish. Medium to full bodied, oily texture, lively carbonation.

8/8/2012. From bottle. Dark brown with a tan head. Sweet malty aromas with caramel, dried fruit and oak. Boozy flavors with fruit, oak and light spices. A bit sticky and not something I could drink a lot of.

Batch 2, bottled 25MAY12 ABV: 10.83% Pours a lovely crimson with a touch of mahogany, nice tan sheet atop this one. Smells, mmm, good. Caramel, nougat, some crystal malts, some hints of toffee, a little vanilla and Jordan almonds - lovely nose. Taste is candied walnut, a hint of alcohol, some nougat, some bread (hawaiian rolls), a little touch of oak and bitterness. Medium bodied with light carb and a numbing after affect. This is a real surprise. At $7/bomber - hard to pass up now that I’ve seen it... Might go buy the rest of ’em. Serving type: bottle 12-10-2012

Pours dark brown with a light tan head. Very boozy smell with some slight chocolate. Taste is a bit sweet, spicy and boozy notes. Malt balances this out well. Very good, not great

Bottle, smell is sweet fig and raisin, appearance is dark brown with a tan head, taste is very sweet molasses and quite boozy. A little too sweet for me but I can see why a lot of people would like it
