Clear ruby red color. Aroma is of malts, chalk, and either tomato or beet juice. Taste is a little complex. I can pick up malts, earthy, some chalky flavors, grain, and some slight hops. Has an unpleasant bitter aftertaste. I’ve had better from Coney Island. Much better.

Served cool from a 341mL bottle into a flute. Sweet malty candy floss aroma almost like blackstrap molasses. Pours a deep orangey red colour with a orangey tan head with lacing. Molasses taste comes through with a decent amount of bitterness; strange but unique. It's quite creamy and a bit oily. I definitely haven't had a beer like this before and I'd quite enjoy one now and again.

The appearance here is a complete gimmick. Blood red? Come on, people. I want to see it’s natural colour, not some artificially constructed colour. Wet malt aroma, a bit off smelling. Taste is malty and sweet, some bitter hop finish. Okay beer.

mcmisko (276) - New York, USA - APR 30, 2012
Pours blood red with a pink head. It is quite the spectacle. But can it taste good? Smells like some malts, hops and a little chemical. Taste is strange, with underlining sweet malts, candy, very present hops, and a strong ink taste. Strange sticky texture. After taste has a lot of hops, but the inky flavors are unforgettable. Strange, as it looks, and hard for me to enjoy.

Scrapersnbeer (454) - Boston, Massachusetts, USA - APR 26, 2012
UPDATED: MAY 19, 2012 What the hell? This beer is actually red, like cherry juice. Strange malts or color additives I don’t know. The aroma is the grainy malt of many heavier lagers. Not too sinister. Tastes okay, overly sweet caramel being the primary flavor. Very smooth, though some bite arrives on finish. It’s not enough for Mendocino to do their east coast distribution in upstate, they have to do crazy contract stuff as well. 6.66 abv....who thought that one up? Hopefully they can fix their boardwalks with the one dollar I spent here today.

reebtogi (2169) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - APR 4, 2012
355ml bottle pours a deep crimson color with a 2 finger pinkish head that settles quickly leaving virtually no lacing on the glass. Aroma is mild caramel and hops. Taste is caramel malty sweetness with a moderate hop bitterness. Light to medium body with little carbonation. An interesting taste experience, probably something you only want to try once a year.

$2 bottle at Seven Oaks CC. Pours a bright red with thick pink foam. Faint aroma, decent overall beer. Nothing special, but decent.

On tap at Blind Tiger. Not sure why. Pours a red color with off white foam head. Aroma of caramel, dark fruit and zest. Sweet caramel taste with bitter layer. Nothing doing, move along.

Pours blood red...not like your usual red beer, it’s actually red! Take out the food coloring and the stupid label and it would probably be a decent OKT, but that wasn’t the intention. Not bad.

Very red with a small head and no lacing. Smell is very weak, not a lot here- faint caramel and a bit yeasty. Taste is a bit better.

12 oz bottle. Pours watermelon juice coloured, with large frothy pink head. Leaves some decent laceing. Beer is freaky looking, for sure! Some bitter hops on the aroma, taste isbitter and fruity. This is a one hit wonder for sure...
