22 oz. bottle via trade with smith4498 - Pours a clear deep copper color with a one and a half finger thick light tan head. Aroma is toasted malt. Flavor is toasted malt and esters. The esters linger in the finish. Medium body. A nice beer. Definitely like the BA version better. Thanks Jason.

An absolute mess of a doppelbock. Sweetness to all fuck. One of the most diabetes-ridden beers I have had, WOOOOW.

Pours a clear amber color with a white head. Head dissipates quickly andeaves very little lace. Smells of faint malt and booze. Tastes of booze right away then the sweetness of malts hits then finishes with booze. Am disappointed as I expected more from this beer.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a medium, frothy white head, short retention with spare lacing. Aroma is dates, figs, and plums with cookie and toast malt, and light spicy hops. Flavor is sweet malt, dates and plums, light hops and bitterness with a cloying sweet finish. Medium-full body and medium carbonation.

Draft. Light amber color with an interesting aftertaste. Not a big fan of it but it would be drinkable as beer number two. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Cask at Pony Bar, Manhattan - 29/02/12. Medium brown in colour with a frothy tan head. Malts, caramel, alcohol and dark sugars on the nose. Sweet tasting, malty, earthy, dark fruits and alcohol. Medium bodied, not as chewy as I thought it would be, a litle biterness in the aftertaste and a little alcohol burn. I enjoyed this but thought the alcohol could have been better hidden.

Wants to be a very foamy beer and is. Fills my glass half full of foam. Smells like strong Shiner coming out of the bottle froma foot away. Deep reddish amber color. The head is frothy. The first thing you smell and taste is the alcohol. Then its just a punchy amber lager. Gimme a break. Next time I’ll just pour some everclear in my Shiner.

Looks thin and bockish with an amber color, clear, with an off-white head that settles to mold-colored blotches that sit atop the beer. The aroma is sweet, clean and not as roasted as what I remember most Doppelbocks being. It does have that Doppelbock yeast aroma, though. Watch out when it hits the mouth, though… yikes. The light body really makes the alcohol shine in this, so much so that it reminds me of a liquor or wine in the finish. It’s light and sweet initially, but that gently rolls into an almost sour effect after a few seconds, reminding me of wet wood and an almost licorice or anise-like spice… all held together by an alcoholic sweetness that seems to almost crystallize and stick to the lips. The finish has a candy-like sweetness that eventually dies off, leaving behind liquor-esque fumes. This is definitely unique, and although it would easily get its ass kicked by many a Doppelbock, it’s a clever enough of a beer to hold its own. And with as much alcohol by volume as is in this beer, it’s a bock to be reckoned with.

Bottle. I’ve got earthy wheat in the nose and an amber color. A sweetness that ducks out and is replaced by an almost unpleasant bitterness with an astringent aftertaste on the tongue that forces another gulp in order to replace it...overall, the beer feels "done" after three gulps, and you’re left drinking something you wish would liven up but refuses to.

Aroma of floral and brown sugar. Pours ruby brownish with a big sudsy head. Taste is strong with notes of brown sugar, overripe fruit, potpourri and alcohol. A bit overbearing. This definitely did not benefit from being high gravity.
