Looks thin and bockish with an amber color, clear, with an off-white head that settles to mold-colored blotches that sit atop the beer. The aroma is sweet, clean and not as roasted as what I remember most Doppelbocks being. It does have that Doppelbock yeast aroma, though. Watch out when it hits the mouth, though… yikes. The light body really makes the alcohol shine in this, so much so that it reminds me of a liquor or wine in the finish. It’s light and sweet initially, but that gently rolls into an almost sour effect after a few seconds, reminding me of wet wood and an almost licorice or anise-like spice… all held together by an alcoholic sweetness that seems to almost crystallize and stick to the lips. The finish has a candy-like sweetness that eventually dies off, leaving behind liquor-esque fumes. This is definitely unique, and although it would easily get its ass kicked by many a Doppelbock, it’s a clever enough of a beer to hold its own. And with as much alcohol by volume as is in this beer, it’s a bock to be reckoned with.

I love the mouthfeel of this beer. it’s like a werthers original lolly. big bright malt bomb. slightly too much alcohol in the aroma and taste, but just slightly. really delicious otherwise

UPDATED: APR 11, 2013 Smells like a barleywine, very little head... good taste on the front end but way too bitter on the finish.. kills the experience.... very flavorful, malty and hoppy all at once! Couldnt finish...and gave me the runs the next morning

Aroma of sweet malt, caramel, with hints of fruit. Pours a clear dark amber with a mostly lasting tan head and ample laciing. The taste is moderately sweet. Toasted malts, caramel, with hints of dark fruit and an alcohal presence. There is a lingering alcohal burn in the aftertaste. Medium body with medium carbonation. Overall, while tasty, I wish it was less sweet.

I think I have figured out I am not a big fan of dopplebocks outside of ceoebrator... like others I have tried, this has too much cloying sweetness, big pine hops and a little too much alcohol in taste. a bomber of this just gets old after awhild

Fruity, slightly sweet aroma. Beginning to taste sweeter as it warms. Too bad. The sweetness ruins it for me. Perhaps I’m having an off night. Just not a fan of this style.

Dark with large off-white head. Aroma of malts and fruits (sort of wine-like). Complex taste, malts, grapes, chocolate, cranberry, coffee, slight breadiness, alcohol. A great complex beer, high alcohol too!

Bottle from mane liquor. Pours an amber/copper colour with off white head. Aromas of dried fruit and sugary sweetness. Taste is quite sweet, caramel and fruits. Okay.

Grass malt city in the aroma. This is very malty and tons of caramel. I like this. Almost has a barleywine feel to it. Excellent.

Sweet but not cloying. A bit of a apple juice via black currant vibe. Very unique but a it heavy on the palate after a it. I like it, but a bomber is definitely a ’sharing is caring’ experience with this one.
