UPDATED: JUN 25, 2008 Coney Island Human Block Head on tap at Blind Tiger Ale House. Served in a 1/2 pint snifter. Poured with no head and only a light ring around the glass. Reddish brown in color, like Cola. Smelled malty, like caramel, brown sugar, raisin and plum... like a light brown ale. some slight alcohol was detected in the aroma. it tasted like a brown lager, sweet, with caramel, molasses, raisin and honey smoothness. ended with the slightest hop bitterness. is it an Octoberfest? An American Strong? well, it is a lager... the 8.8% is very nicely warming, and not detectable in the taste. this doesn’t really seem like a summer beer, and not my preference in style, but pretty good for whatever it is.
the tap handle was pretty cool, shaped like a bottle the label had a cartoonish depiction of the Human Block Head himself, boulder on his head and handle bar mustache and devilish goatee, hammering a nail into his nose.

Dark brown with a thick off white head that sticks around due to the high amount of carbonation. Sweet carmel malt and brown sugar taste with a good amount of hop additions to balance the malt. The alcohol is noticable from start to end. Very filling finish.

Pours a dark amber with red tinge. Aromas of rich malts, nuts, caramel, toffee, brown sugar. Full bodied with lively carbonation. Flavours of toffee, caramel, sourdough, cane sugar, raisins. I found this beer coated my mouth and left a boozy-bitter aftertaste.

Bottle. Pours a clear, dark amber/brown with beige head. Aroma of burnt caramel, brown sugar. Flavor is nice, burnt caramel, strong mild hop spice, great malty backbone and nice sweetness and a complimenting alcohol spiciness comes through. Medium-heavy body with medium carbonation. Overall, solid brew!

Pour on tap at Parry’s dark reddish brown pour with thin khaki head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, hints of dark fruits, rich molasses, slight yeast and earth, but a bit sweet overall. Taste is a pretty nice mix of caramel, dark fruits with some candied raisin and figs, touch of molasses, dark cocoa powder notes, hints of biscuit and yeast, finishing fairly sweet but dry. Pretty nice.

Dark amber in color with a frothy light beige head that laces slightly. Mild aroma of toast, caramel, and a little dark fruit. Taste is sweet; sugary caramel and dark fruit, with a decent hop profile and some booziness. Medium bodied, noticeably strong, and finishing a little bitter.

This beautiful example of an American Imperial Bock is delicious! It tickles the tongue with a beautiful hop profile and engorges the mouth, palate and throat with a wicked lingering luscious malt rush! under-rated!
