Mermaids, those mysterious aquatic lovelies, have popped up all over the world in legend since 1000 BC. No scientific evidence has ever surfaced to support their existence, but we’re not ones to argue with folklore.

2009 Bottle of The Chosen Spot- Thanks Eyedrinkale! Pours clear orangeg with a small white head...aroma is full of rye spice and sweet citrus fruit, light hops and honey?...flavour is similar, sweet and grainy, much more rye in the nose than in the taste, but nicely fresh and bitter, sweet grass...finish is a bit hoppier and rounds it out nicely!

Lucent gold, thin white head, medium body, medium-high carnation.

Aroma: hay, pale malt, herbal noble hops.

Taste: hay, herbal noble hops, pale malt, and bready yeast.

IMO, more of a pale ale with german hops than a pilsner.

Very spicy aroma, rustic golden with a smaller white head limited retention and lacing... a little grassy... definite rye flavor, grassy, light sweetness... medium thin body...

Draft. Pours a golden amber, darker than a pilsner normally is, with a medium-sized white head. Aroma is bready and slightly sweet with lots of floral, spicy hops. Flavor is fairly malty with some fruitiness and a rye tang and a good hop bite that accentuates the rye. Light body. It’s not quite a pils, but I like it.

Poured from a bottle into a pilsner glass. Color was pale golden, almost like apple juice or dehydrated urine. About an inch of head. Healthy amount of lacing. Lots of film on the sides, which stayed throughout the pour. Smelled of citrus and pine hops. Some light cereal malts in there, too, but citrus rules the day. A bit surprising for a pilsner. Different taste than the nose, really a different taste than a pilsner. Watery, smooth start, which gave way to a very slight bitter finish. Medium body. Texture ??? Lively carbonation. Smooth feel with a non-descript, but somehow decent finish. I really liked this beer, especially after having the Albino Python first. Still didn’t taste like a pilsner to me, but a good beer.

Tap at Oblivion for Coney Island/Schmaltz day. Nose is rye, bread, pale malt, hay. Pour is golden with a white fluffy head. Taste is similar with tons of toasted rye, bread, and lightly bitter hops. Not bad for pils.

(Sample Date: 5/19/2010 Source:Commercial Taphouse) Light spicy hop aroma. Very slight chill haze orange golden with small white head. Medium body and mouth. Moderately fruity with pineapple citrus hop notes. Pilsner with a American hop profile. Okay.

Proper glassware courtesy of Oblivion Taproom. Fuggin. Toasted rye is well integrated into the aroma, with hints of lemon and hops. The taste was light and crisp, some caramel and pineapple tickle the senses while fresh hops fill the mouth with a light dryness. The finish is dry as well, but the rye makes it much more enjoyable.

Draft at Cha Cha’s before the Furthur show. Aroma of rye, roasted corn, grass. High, prickly carbonation which carries the spicy rye and somewhat astringent hops very well. Very dry and hoppy finish. Great spicy rye palate. Works well.
