COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dry hopped American Rye Pilsener. Obey the siren song of the mythological Coney Island Mermaid. Four spicy hops flow into seven golden malts. Perfect as a momentary distraction, or equally enchanting as a parade towards deeper delights. When beer tastes this good, and you donít have scurvy, you donít need a lime!

I really need to try to set aside style designation here when I try to rate this, but it will be difficult considering that this is nowhere close to being a pils, aside from the fact that it is a lager - "hey guys, letís make a beer with seven different malts (two of which are rye) and four hops (none of which are typically associated with pilsners) and market it as a pils" - fuck that - the beauty of a pils is in its simplicity, guys - anyway - hazy straw - aroma is light honey, toasted grains, light Vienna richness, lightly spicy rye - flavor is strongly husky/grainy and moderately bitter - earthy, American hop profile - a honey sweetness through the tail end and finish - herbal, tea-like character - too much apparent alcohol in the finish - drinkable, with no glaring flaws, but NOT a pilsner.

12oz. Bottle (at 5.5%ABV per the Bottle): Aroma of pils malts, noble hops, and corn. Poured amber/gold in color with a small, creamy, white head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer. Clear. Lightly sparkling. Many medium-sized particles throughout. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of malt, noble hops, and corn. Light to medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Malt, noble hop, corn finish is lightly dry.

12oz bottle. Dark amber with a light but lasting head. Aroma is herbal orange vanilla doughy melting pot that forms a common scent with a zesty citrus finish. Strong citrus hop bite and strong malt flavour. Strong citrus finish with a spruce side An IPL might be the cloest style comparison. India Pale Lager?

Draft at Alchemy. Hazy golden orange. Thin white head. Lemony sweet dry hops. The rye adds a certain depth to it. An interesting, refreshing medium bodied beer. The rye detracts from itís sessionability, making it feel fuller. Lemon bread, floral honey finish. OK, very forgettable.

Pours gold into a lager glass. Bright white head with excellent retention recedes to coat surface. Spicy hay and caramel aromas. Sweet caramel upfront with a dry, lasting, slightly sour and bitter grass finish.

ChainGangGuy (4420) - Marietta, Georgia, USA - JUL 9, 2010
Appearance: Delivered to me a light, clear, copper-hued body with a modest-sized, white head. Limited lacing on the way down. Smell: Light maltiness embodied by a grainy, bready presence and rounded out with hints of caramel and piquant rye. Spicy-scented hops are simply whelming. A bit of time and warmth rouses a hint of buttery diacetyl on the nose and in the taste. Taste: Lightly bready malts with an attention-grabbing snap of fresh rye grains. Lonely drip of lightly sweet caramel. Spicy, sparsely grassy hops with a small amount of bitterness. Little kick of diacetyl. Drying, loosely spicy finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-light body. Medium-plus carbonation. Drinkability: CIMP presents a few tasty twists on the style without losing sight of the pilsner paradigm. Amply quaffable, says I!

355ml bottle pours a hazy golden orange color with a 2 finger white head that retains well and leaves some decent lacing on the glass. Aroma is grainy malts and light citrus and herbal hops. Taste is quite malty sweet with some light citrus and herbal hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is grainy, but there is enough carbonation to please the palate. Medium bodied. This is certainly a different take on a pilsner and worth trying at least once.

Hazy, apricot colored, thin head. Very muted aroma (on tap). Muddled, slightly briny and starchy. Musky, Bohemian spoiled fruit notes. Medium light body, stale fruit finish. A bumbling brew - itís easier to say what this beer is not rather than to actually describe it. In a nutshell, itís not good. On tap, Momoís.

The aroma is malty, hoppy, and slightly yeasty. There are notes of biscuits, corn, flowers, soap, and cake. The appearance is golden with a large head. The taste is pretty simple with just bitter hops and bread like malt. The palate is average. Overall a pretty good beer but not wonderful.
