COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A dry hopped American Rye Pilsener. Obey the siren song of the mythological Coney Island Mermaid. Four spicy hops flow into seven golden malts. Perfect as a momentary distraction, or equally enchanting as a parade towards deeper delights. When beer tastes this good, and you don’t have scurvy, you don’t need a lime!

Tallahassee, Fl - New Leaf Market - sampled at their weekly tasting. Dark gold pour, nice fluffy white head. Neutral aroma. Flavor is bold for a pilsener with a satisfying hoppy bite. some honey sweetness in the back end rounds it out. Crisp mouthfeel. Overall, very solid. .

On tap at Hay Merchant. Pours a clear gold with thick frothy white head leaving spotty lacing. The aroma is wheat grass and hay. Thin mouthfeel with a sweet corn malt and crisp finish. Easy to drink a very good pilsner from Coney Island.

Bottle from the Coney Island variety pack. The beer pours a clear yellow color with a white head. The aroma is bread and grass, with a strong amount of pilsner malt thrown in. The flavor is similar with a ton of lighter malts and a little bit of grass. The bitterness is fairly low and the beer is very easy to drink and quite refreshing. Thin mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

(12oz bottle thanks to blutt59) clear light gold, wispy white bubbles. Nose is funky, banana extract, some odd fruity/earthy flavors. Taste of earth, cracker, really buttery which takes away from it, funky, not my favorite.

If I hadn’t been perusing the tap list for a new tick, I probably wouldn’t’ve found this beer, and that would’ve been a shame. Very enjoyable. Spicy and sweet, with an odd flavor I couldn’t quite pinpoint. I see here that rye was involved, so I suppose that could explain it. Very tasty beer.

Sampled on draft at Smokin’ Joe’s in Pittsburgh PA this beer poured a pale yellow color with a medium sized white head that lingered and produced good lacing. the aroma was crisp and sharp fruity and floral hops. The flavor was tangy, sweetish and bitter with a fairly strong fruity and floral hop presence and notes of lemon and grass. the finish was long with floral hops and turned a touch dry towards the end. Medium body. Solid.

I really need to try to set aside style designation here when I try to rate this, but it will be difficult considering that this is nowhere close to being a pils, aside from the fact that it is a lager - "hey guys, let’s make a beer with seven different malts (two of which are rye) and four hops (none of which are typically associated with pilsners) and market it as a pils" - fuck that - the beauty of a pils is in its simplicity, guys - anyway - hazy straw - aroma is light honey, toasted grains, light Vienna richness, lightly spicy rye - flavor is strongly husky/grainy and moderately bitter - earthy, American hop profile - a honey sweetness through the tail end and finish - herbal, tea-like character - too much apparent alcohol in the finish - drinkable, with no glaring flaws, but NOT a pilsner.

Sampled on 6/10/2011. This pilsner pours a medium orange gold color from a 120z bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is cereal and grassy, fruity and slightly sweet. A medium bodied pilsner. The malts are cereal and grainy. The hops are earthy and spicy. Lively carbonation. A decent pilsner, it doesn’t seem to have any of those adjunct flavors. Crisp and clean tasting. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
