COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
As the capital of Iowa, Des Moines constantly surprises first-time visitors with its mix of expected agrarian heritage and influences and unanticipated cosmopolitan flare. So too, with Des Moines IPA, an American take on a world beer: India Pale Ale (IPA).

Iowa’s steady, well balanced nature is reflected in this IPA with its mix of medium body, lighter color and plenty of malt flavor to balance the massive hop impact. Citrusy and piney hops from the Pacific Northwest offset the robust malt flavor of the two-row barley and medium crystal malts. Des Moines IPA proudly represents the Hawkeye State in the category of American IPA, a favorite of beer connoisseurs all across the country.

Bottle from Iowa. Clear golden with lasting head and lace. Spicy citrus and some piney resin aroma. Medium bready malts with some fruit and piney resin lingering bitterness. Medium body Lively carb gives a nice finishing bite. Very good.

Golden orange with a frothy white head. Resinous with some citrus sweetness throughout. Tried at the Parkville microbrew fest in 2015.

32oz bottle from John’s enjoyed this afternoon after cutting the grass for the first time in 2015. Nice, bright golden orange color with lots of white head and sticky lacing. Nose is floral and piney, mild herbals. Same in the taste with a little more emphasis on the herbal notes. Sort of sticky and piney sweet, but the herbal presence really balances this out. Pretty darn good.

Gold pour, white head. Grapefruit flavors up front, grassy, dank, medium malt bill keeps this one in check. Decent stuff for sure.

On tap at Stella. Better than some Confluence I’ve had. A citrusy IPA--a little bit sharp on the tongue, but good.

Keg at a wedding, June 2014. Golden orange pour with a nice off-white head, good lacing. Nice aroma, citrus, pine, dank, even some tropical fruits, some pale malts. Okay flavor, bitter, not as much fresh hop pop as the aroma, a bit malty/caramel. All in all, pretty decent stuff!

En fût chez El Bait Shop: Fortement malté, rondelet mais en cohérence avec l’intensité des zestes et de la force de l’amertume. Buvabilité honnête pour son niveau de machabilité.

This IPA is perfectly suited to my tastes right now - well balanced between citrus and piney notes, crisp on the palette, and easy to drink. Terrific on tap, just as good in a mini-growler. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Can. Clear golden amber color, white head. Aroma of lightly funky pine and lemon peel. Taste is funky citrus. Interesting.

Pours a slightly cloudy copper color with whitr head. Pine, citrus, and bread on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a hop bite and a little bread. Nice IPA.
