When most people think of Iowa, they picture flowing fields of grain for miles and miles. Created by a third-generation farm boy, Farmer Johnís Multi-Grain Ale is amber waves of grain in a glass. A refreshing, blonde ale, it features a base of two row American barley malt along with a large portion of wheat malt, a small dose of rye malt and un-malted oats, corn and wheat.

Lightly hopped with English East Kent Goldings hops chosen for their subtle, earthy qualities and finished with Czech Saaz hops for their sweet, floral essence to create a beer thatís light in body and color, with a velvety texture and an aroma as sweet as a freshly cut field of hay. Farmer Johnís captures the endless bounty of Iowa in a easy-drinking, blonde ale.

on tap @ Confluence Brewing / Des Moines IA --- Clear straw color, thin head cover, light sprays of lace. Taste is wheat and malt that moves without fanfare through a mild palate and barely notable bitters to finish. This has the huge disadvantage of having a taste that actually recedes from the opening to the finish, finally leaving nothing.

Draft at parlor city. Hazy gold pour. Aroma of lemon, wheat, bubblegum. Taste of grains, wheat, slightly spicy, short lightly bitter finish. Light body, average carbonation. Decent, something I could expect my relatives to drink and not dislike. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
