Formally contract brewed by Brakspear. Currently contract brewed at Hepworth for Beer Counter, under the supervision of Peter Scholey, former Brakspear head brewer.
The ingredients and abv are different to the CAMRA Supreme Champion cask ale which continues to be brewed by Coniston.
Ingredients: Maris Otter and crystal malt; Challenger hops - mainly at the end of the boil.

BLUEBIRD is a fine session ale with a light golden colour. The intense resinous and spicy hop character which is the beer’s hallmark is derived from the use of unusual quantities of English Challenger hops, each bale being individually and personally selected by the brewer. The malt is, of course, Maris Otter fermented slightly warm to give a soft fruitiness with a faint hint of scented geranium.

This is a really tasty full lakeland beer. Tends to be the more popular of the cinisyon brews. I would heartily recommend this ale.

drink was clear in the glass. Hop aroma and strong hop taste. Light head with a fair lacing. Smooth with a dry finish. I did not pick out much in the way of other flavours or malt. With less hops this might be almost tasteless. A different taste for a bitter, im a bit undecided with this beer not sure if its nice or horrid its very strange

Bottle. Nose is biscuit, cereal, light spice touch of berry. Taste is cereal, light bitterness, biscuit, touch of pepper and spice leading to earth and soft floral tones. The mouthfeel is light and suitable for a session beer. This is that rarest of things, a good quality traditional session bitter with taste and body which is available from supermarkets. It’s pretty much as good as it gets from mainstream traditional British bitter (which is a bit damming really). Interesting to note the American reviews here are better than the UK ones.... Perhaps we are taking it for granted...

A little better than the XB save for the aroma, but this is slightly more complex and flavorful. Still not a standout instyle or worth the price, though, IMO. Live and learn..."

From a pint (more or less) bottle: Poured gold-yellow with a small light head. Spicy and interesting hop aroma. Tastes light and fruity with moderate bitterness. Not bad.

Moderate stone ground wheat malt. Slight earth and orange. Clear, light copper gold with ivory head. Flavor is slightly papery. Thin mouthfeel. A little peaty on the very back.

This is a nice, easily drinkable British bitter. From a 500 ml. bottle. Pours rich, clear gold with a nice white fluffy head that retains and leaves lacing. Aroma of grass, sweet malt, grains, and slightly floral. Taste is quite dry and bitter but manageable, it is a mild to medium bitterness, not too resiny. Has more of a grassy, herbal character. Has a light body, slick texture, average to soft carb., and bitter finish but still refreshing.

500 ml bottle into pint glass, F13-253 bottle code. Pours slightly hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger fairly dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of biscuit, white bread, light caramel, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance of pale malt, earthy hops, and fruity yeast ester notes; with solid strength. Taste of white bread, biscuit, light caramel, pear, apple, herbal, floral, grass, light pepper, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Light earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of bread, biscuit, light caramel, apple, pear, herbal, floral, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness on the finish for a bit. Nice balance of pale malt, earthy hop, and fruity yeast ester flavors; with solid robustness and no cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and slightly bready mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish as expected of 4.2%. Overall this is a nice English bitter style. Well balanced pale malt, earthy hops, and yeast ester flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering.

500ml bottle, from Party Source. Code on back of bottle reads F14-346. Clear orange color. Thin khaki head. Leaves good, thicker lace. Light to medium body. Smooth, kind of crisp, lighter carbonation. Kind of a lightly creamy texture. Kind of a metallic nose, some caramel flavor, light toastiness, and good light bit of citrusy earthy hop. A light bit of lager type funk in the flavor, or maybe the smell of an older bottle. Light to moderate bitter, light to moderate sweet taste. Pretty decent english bitter. Nice amount of hop, and certainly smooth and easy drinking.
