COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle conditioned.
Formally contract brewed by Brakspear. Currently contract brewed at Hepworth for Beer Counter, under the supervision of Peter Scholey, former Brakspear head brewer.
The ingredients and abv are different to the CAMRA Supreme Champion cask ale which continues to be brewed by Coniston.
Ingredients: Maris Otter and crystal malt; Challenger hops - mainly at the end of the boil.

BLUEBIRD is a fine session ale with a light golden colour. The intense resinous and spicy hop character which is the beerís hallmark is derived from the use of unusual quantities of English Challenger hops, each bale being individually and personally selected by the brewer. The malt is, of course, Maris Otter fermented slightly warm to give a soft fruitiness with a faint hint of scented geranium.

Clear old gold pour with a thin off white head that holds at a thick skim and leaves sparse lacing. Aroma is tree fruit, toffee, caramel, toast and planty, floral and herbal hops. Flavor is very fruity, lots of tree fruit and berry sweetness, dry leaves, toast, sweet malt, toast and mineral notes. Light, dry feel thoughout with a nice mineral crispness and medium strength, blanketing and appropriately somewhat sharp carbonation, great palate for the flavor and aroma profile. Pretty decent stuff. Would be a great pairling for tempura or battered fish.

500ml bottle (bottle conditioned) at home, source unknown (almost 11 months after recommended drink date) - clear orange, amber, creamy off-white head, fruity, floral aroma with a hint of spice, good lacing, caramel with some hops and spice, low to good carbonation

Medium clear amber orange with a thin frothy lacy, lasting tan head. Smells of fruit or floral elements, spiced grass hops and gain malt with caramel. Medium oily body with soft carbonation. The taste starts with spice and light acidity with some bitter flowery notes. Sweet caramel malt with a bitter finish. Creamy and easy to drink. A smooth and excellent session bitter. Nice

Reddish-copper beer with a medium foamy bright white head. Somewhat light, flowery nose of cedar, musk, and leather, but you have to really breathe it in. Flavor is a bit watery with some light caramel, green tea, and bread followed by a mild bitterness that fades quickly. Overall, not a particularly flavorful beer, but whatís there is pleasant enough. Decent.

Draft to taster at Ei8ht Ball. Pours a clear orange color with a small khaki head. The aroma and flavor has the sweeter Maris Otter malt, caramel, lightly toasty, with mild citrus and earthy hops. Lighter bodied, light to moderate bitterness, light to moderate sweet taste. Mild hops, smooth and easy drinking, just didnít compare very well to the bigger beers that day.

Looks great, smells great, taste starts out good but end up in a phenolic aftertaste. Would not drink again.

Bottle--somewhat disappointing. Pours a hazy, light, orange color with a small, soapy head that leaves light lacing. Aroma is slight but it mostly light bread as opposed to biscuit with some pear and spice. Taste is bread and spice, no caramel. The finish is very bitter but with a light touch. Gift.

A very tasteless beer, no malt aroma or taste at all. Only aroma or taste is an odd flowery one. Bitters are meant to be brewed, fermented, conditioned and drank within a month. This style is all about freshness, hence the staleness in a bottled, imported and shelf stagnant beer. Please fellow drinkers donít let this discourage you from wonderful bitters. If your at a local brewery order the bitter or brew your own bitter there fresh, great, easy and social. With a delicious grainy bread biscuity and subtle bitter flavor, not like this one.

drink was clear in the glass. Hop aroma and strong hop taste. Light head with a fair lacing. Smooth with a dry finish. I did not pick out much in the way of other flavours or malt. With less hops this might be almost tasteless. A different taste for a bitter, im a bit undecided with this beer not sure if its nice or horrid its very strange
