3 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20 JackfromJax (23) - USA - OCT 2, 2009
Pours dark copper with a off white lingering head. A little sourness in the aroma and not in a good way. Maybe some oxidation as well. Very one dimensional flavor with slight nutty and caramel flavors in the background. It tastes like a second runnings beer from a parti gyle. There is a little hop bitterness but not much. The body is very thin for a 5% abv beer. I was expecting more.

Hazy medium amber with a good head and strips of lace. Typical British Ale with a clean caramel malt followed by balancing hop bitters. Typical (in this case) = normal, good quality session ale. Very easy on the palate - make a night of it in good company.

Heavy, complex fruit in aroma, almost like an ESB meets an Old Ale. The flavor is malty and fruity, in the middle between the complexity of an Old Ale and the easier drinking of an ESB. Good for what it is.

Bottle from an Xmas present from my team. What maeib said. In fact I can add very little. It’s inoffensive, not an old ale and has some ok malt. It’s some water with some malt and alcohol. that’s about the size of it.

Bottled. A dark brown coloured beer with an off-white head. The aroma is sweet fruity although fairly thin. Malty in the mouth. This again. Not an old ale in my book and quite dull really although there’s nothing wrong with it.
