2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle and served in my Old Raspy nonic pint glass: Pours a deep brown with a fading tan head and not much lace. The aroma has notes of chocolate, oatmeal, roast, bread, fig, and some grassy noble hops (thinking Fuggles but not sure). The taste is actually pretty roasty and coffee like, less sweeter than expected. Solid cacao and deep fruit notes. Finished with a fair amount of bitterness. The mouth feel is far too thin for the genre and ashy. It is quaffable but that is all... needs a richer mouthfeel and more pronounced oat character. I see now why it is listed as just a stout and not a sweet stout when most Oatmeal Stouts are.
Like all Coniston beers I have had... this would likely be far better on live cask / handpull than in a bottle

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle (shared by FatPhil, thanks). Dark brown color, with red hue. Small off-white head, stays. Sour, very faint roast, orange peels in aroma. Smoky, roasted, grainy, hint of licorice in flavor. Unfortunately way too watery.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
500ml bottle (K Kamppi, Helsinki)
Super gingery aroma, a little sweet, like the sweeties Anna used to get from LP. And here, super means super. Alas, it’s watery in the palate, and a bit thin. Shame, the aroma promised so much. Pleasant roast, but just too watery. At 4.5% they should pump up the body with some oatmeal, perhaps.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 14/20
500 ml bottle. BB 28/04/14. (K-Citymarket) Kouvola, Finland.
Black colour with a small tan head.
Toasted malt, soy sauce, milk coffee, mild hops and toffee in the aroma. Quite nice actually. The flavour is very nicely balanced. There’s mildly roasted malt, sweet cookies, some grassy hops, very dark chocolate and a touch of bitterness and coffee. Very nice. Unfortunately it’s very thin. Otherwise very nice Stout. Balanced and tasty.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 6, 2013 Bottle, thanks M. Pours a dark brown, almost black. Big-bubbled, small, beige head. Aroma is roasted with some liquorice and coffee. Dark breadiness. Taste much of the same. Dark bread controls more with some dark fruitiness. Palate is light, not much carbonation. An alright quaffer, but not memorable in anyway.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle. Very dark brown color, near black. Medium thin frothy beige head. Medium mild, sophisticated aroma of roasted malt, hops and lemon. Dry texture. Fruity finish with licorice. Slick feel.
