3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Clear very dark mahogany, 2" tan head that reduces to a thin head cover, no lace. Taste is full roasted, slightly bitter malt that moves quickly through the palate to a lightly hopped finish. All dissipates rather quickly. The taste is big and satisfying. But, it obviously has water as its base, which provides a cleansing effect, but doesn’t allow for it to remain long enough for full enjoyment. Good, not great.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Bottle. Very dark brown, average and mostly diminishing light brown head. Moderate, malty - light oat and sweetish aroma, light caramel and light roasted malt, floral fruitiness. Body is light to medium, malty - light oat and sweetish flavor, some caramel and light roasted malt, floral fruitiness. Finish is short to average, malty - light oat and lightly sweetish, faint roasted malt, some floral fruitiness, with light coffee. Watery stout with weird floral fruitiness (bit like lemodade/cola).

(Cask, Rainhill Beer Fest): Black in colour, tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, burnt notes, coffee, oats. Similar notes in tasting. Leaves a nice oatmeal aftertaste. Could do with having a bigger body.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On cask at the Black Bull.
Appearance - opaque black with a fawn head.
Nose - dark chocolate and cream. Definitely nutty too. Perhaps coffee at a push.
Taste - more dark chocolate and nuts. Maybe honeycomb too so getting into a Crunchie Bar experience too.
Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a fairly good finish.
Overall - yep flavoursome stout.

3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Nose is cola, blackberry, slight roast, very sweet. Taste is very sweet; blackberry, cherry, cola, leading to roast malt notes with a hint of coco. Mouthfeel is very smooth.
A good beer which has surprising complexity for the style.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Black pour with a 2 finger, creamy tan head. Aroma is apple, chocolate, toasted cereal and fruity hops. Flavor is hay, sweet apples, hints of chocolate, weird stale dried berries and fruity, planty and earthy hops. Light body with a creamy entry, light, sharp carbonation and dry, slightly acidic and slightly chalky finish. Meh.

2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Full black pour with a thin foamy light beige cap. The aroma is a bit earthy and roasty and dark with a strange dark berry undertone and some mild dark cocoa. Light-medium body with some earthy roastiness and a bit of bittersweet black malt. Pretty middle of the road and ’whatever’.

3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours clear dark ruby black with a small tan head that dissipates slowly and laces pretty well. Aroma is roast, cocoa, cardboard. Flavor is pretty decent actually, light plus sweet with notes of dark cocoa, roasted malts, perhaps coffee, quite light bitterness on the back end. Medium body, well carbonated. This ain’t bad for a sub 5% beer.
