Bottle, from Asda Carlisle. Bronze with a thin, but long lasting white head. Good malty nose, palate is also dominated by a gentle malty sweetness with a nice citrus bitter edge. Good beer!

Bottle poured and served at Black Bull Coniston - rich ruby body, thick white lacing head. Nose is heavy on the caramel and malts, dark toffee and cake fruits. Taste is malty and chewy. Very good.

Bottle from ASDA, Keighley. Amber with not much of a head. Fruit hopped with a fair amount of citrus orange in aroma and taste.

Pours a nice dark golden with short lived head hints of cake mix and syrup but not overly sweet nice unmistakably English beer drunk from a bottle and unfortunately not from the black bull coniston

500ml bottle shared with Ashton McCobb, cheers Ash! Pours clear amber, short-lived off-white head. Aromas of cake mix, spice, dried orange peel. Taste is more orange, light spice. Medium body, creamy texture, sweet spicy finish. Good.

50cl bottle from the Black Bull. Appearance - amber with a decent head which hangs around. Nose - cake mixture and a hint of spice. Taste - tangy dried orange and generally fruit cake. Palate - medium bodied with a creamy texture and a balanced dry finish. Overall - very enjoyable. Extra complexity seems to develop down the glass.

Bottle. Copper amber ale with a decently thick off-white head. Nose is ginger biscuits, light lemon, salty toffee and sweet malt. Toffee and a hint of ginger & spices. It feels like Iím drinking this one at the wrong time of year. Quite "full" and itís not a quaffer. A full "cakey" finish and I can definitely see the appeal here, but itís a bit sickly for me.

bottled. Sweet malty amber coloured beer. Barnyard & yeasty aromas, full flavoured chewy palate, with plenty of body. Lingering aftertaste with some mid dryness in the finish and very faint sulphur. A very English beer!

Handpull, The Miles Thompson (JDW), Kendal, Cumbria, 15/02/13. Cream-topped bronze. Soft English hop; berry, herbal-hinting nose. Slate and caramel softness; tweak of aniseed, berry hints. Dull, soft and solid.

At the Black Bull Coniston. Mid copper brown, tight head which lasts. Caramel like sweetness, maltiness and a light bitterness to finish. Really good stuff.
