4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: MAR 4, 2006 33 cl bottle, bbe Jan 07. Deep amber, abundance of large bubbles; hefty and stable, rocky head with a good lace. Aroma: caramel, lightly fermented plums, old bread, some light woody notes and very gentle hops. Taste: malty with light caramel and a good, slightly acidic fruity (apples? oranges?) background. The long, dry aftertaste mixes sharp hop bitterness with nut oils. A very good balance. Almost greasy on the palate, slightly astringent and well carbonated.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle (maybe) at Plan B during RBESG 05 pub crawl. Smells like a Dubbel. Light toasty brown, with a small fluffy head. Very sweet - ginger biscuits, brown sugar etc. No balance really, just smooth and easy to drink. OK.

2.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 8/20
Bottle. Quite flat and sweet. Touches of soy, and then some apple and berry fruit. The mouthfeel felt quite flat and empty.

3.9 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Clear dark amber. Buttery malt aroma. Sweet with soft, rich, delicate malt character but also a wealth of carbonization. Grassy and lightly roasty. Overcarbonated, but what a fantastic malt flavour!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
And the next Flemish Sour doubter. Reddish orange colour, with hints of orange and yeast in the aroma. Flavour is spicy, with citric hops, but there’s no great depth. Bone dry and quite fresh tasting. There’s a very subtle tart edge to the finish, but it could hardly be called sour. Bottled at the Beer Circus, Croydon.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: APR 6, 2006 Bottled. A fresh, fizzy, funky aroma with some sugary fruit to this hazy brown coloured beer. The taste is creamy with strawberry notes and some candy sugar. Nicely drinkable at a sensible strength.
