4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
From wooden cask at The White Horse Belgain Beer Festival, 24th August 2008. Flat, clear amber with no head. Superb aroma of toffee, honey and nutmeg. The flavour is similar with the soft, delicate palate stopping the beer from becoming too overpowering. The relatively low strength makes it easy to drink. A lovely beer.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottled. Dark amber, brief head. Sweet and buttery with some lingonberries and almonds. Light bodied with soft, velvetty mouthfeel. Well balanced, and very drinkable for a Belgian ale.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Hazy pale amber; slim cream-coloured head, fast gone. Slightly roasted & caramalt nose; bit herbal finish.
Again a fresh, grainy & herbal taste on top of sweet & light roasted malts. Biscuit finish. Quite carbonated, the little head notwithstanding. Very refreshing. Nice, refreshing ale. A whiff of simple beers made once everywhere... those that were really satisfying. "A honest ale", my friend Jeremy said. Exactly.

Draught @ East Croydon, Belgian Beer Fest. Golden body with a rich snow white head. Curvaceous and sexy this beer was a-ok by me. The Marilyn Monroe of beers, it had curves and interest in all the right places.

25cl bottle. Bronze coloured beer. Pleasant malt aroma. Flavour is light pleasing malt and hops. Real ale like, yes, reminds me of home. It’s the soft carbonation which makes this taste very natural. A really good, uncomplicated, softly spoken ale.

25cl bottle from Brussels (as "Tonneke Speciale Belge," Brouwereji Contreras, and listed as 5% abv). A careful pour gets you a slightly cloudy orange-amber with a fluffy, antique-white cloud cap. Bready, fruity notes in the nose, slightly pie-like. More doughy malt and fruit with some tart, gingery spice in the mouth. Further tastes get you light pumpkin pie; overall, very moderate sweetness. Finishes lightly acidic, not quite "sour," with something akin to tannins. Good, even very good.
