bartlebier (1178) - Belchum im Breisgau, GERMANY - APR 7, 2013
33cl bottles - Smooth and slightly spicy, with typical but not all too heavy Belgian yeastiness and a relieving low ABV for a Belgian ale. Creamy, sweetish yet dry, well-balanced and very drinkable - and yet oddly, the least remarkable - most traditional in the impressive Valeir range (modern atkes on typical Belgian taste profiles) by Contreras so far.

Cloudy dirty blond with a smooth full head that has good retention, curtains of fine lace. Taste begins with a bracing caramel malt that has a nice carbonation edge; grows through the palate, warming and changing to a smooth, lingering butter rum finish. Complex, balanced, good-tasting Belgian Blond. High recommendation.

lusikka (5338) - Tampere, FINLAND - MAR 4, 2013
Draught @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas, Brussels. Rated on 28.2.2013.
Pours a cloudy golden colour with a large white head. Aroma of citrus, floral notes and some spices. Flavour of pale malts, spices, caramel and surprisingly bitter floral hops. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and a bitter, slightly dry finish with some fruitiness. Good.

On tap at Eiderdown. Pours deep golden with small white head into a snifter. Little lacing, medium body, light carbonation, and spicy citrus aroma. Taste is spicy dry citrus and finishes bitter hops. Wouldn’t seek this again.

11.2oz bottle in a Trappist glass. Pours amber with a lacy, light beige head. Aroma of spicy yeast, a lot of caramel and pale malts, and some floral hops. Flavor has a little too much pale malts, but it’s not terrible. Average texture. A decent beer, but not the best for Belgium.
