bartlebier (3213) - Belchium im Biersgau, GERMANY - APR 7, 2013
33cl bottles - Smooth and slightly spicy, with typical but not all too heavy Belgian yeastiness and a relieving low ABV for a Belgian ale. Creamy, sweetish yet dry, well-balanced and very drinkable - and yet oddly, the least remarkable - most traditional in the impressive Valeir range (modern atkes on typical Belgian taste profiles) by Contreras so far.

Aroma: Smelling of bread, pear, vanilla and egg.
Appearance: A hazy straw colored beer. A high white head with good lacing and some curtains.
Taste: Tasting brown bread, pear, vanilla and apple peel.
Palate: Medium low carbonation, a soft texture. A medium body with a slightly dry finish.
Overall: A good session-able, but not extraordinary, brew.
Note: Bottle 330 ml. Reviewed 2013-05-09.

Bottle thnx to the brewer . Pours clear blonde . Ok white foam fades fast . Smell is sweet, bit aromahop . Seems very natural, too . Taste is pretty bitter . The unidentifies sweetness ( malts ? sugar ? Hop ? ) is also kinda intense ( soapy, almost , or perfumy ? ) Surprising beer , out of the ordinary ( as it should be ! ) Tasty stuff ! Very complex .

330 ml. bottle. Purchased @ Willems & Zoon. BBF 02/01/2017. Hazy orange, creamy white head. Nose is grainy, sweetish stone fruits, caramel, dried peach, touch grapefruit, faint sweet white bread, touch nice hops, not bad; Taste is grainy, big esters, high carbonation, touch odd esters, candy sugar, touch other grains, a bit boozy, taste is a bit empty, high carbonation, finish is odd grains & plastic, taste feels a bit hollow and seems to lack some necessary fruitiness. A good amount of spices. Fount floral hops. Shows promise but doesn’t deliver on it. Decent but it feels like it could have been much more.

(Contreras Valeir Blond) Stubby bottle 330 ml at home, served into a big tulip, ABV 6.5% Deep orange colour on the body, small but thick white head on top, with very good retention. Nice fruity aroma, with apricots and peaches, light sugar. Taste follows, sweet, honey-like flavours, peaches, apricots. Medium body, carbonation on the high side. Very good, and highly drinkable.

Look; off white persistent head, clear deep golden body, fluffy lacing. Aroma; wort, caramel, leafy hops, barbeque meat notes, floral notes, honey notes. Taste; caramel, modest and soft hops, wort, bread, dark candies, grains - finishes with soft roasted malts and strawy hops, lingering and nice. Palate; fine, soft, good. Overall; belgian ale, this didn’t fail. [33cl be.btl, 6.5%abv, BB16.10.17 #22]

Hazy yellow, small white head. Fruity, sugary, wheaty aroma. Medium-bodied and yeasty. Hoppy, nice citron flavor. Like yeasty semi-triple flavor. Good and tasty with all this yeast maybe good for cellaring too.
