Very drinkable but ill prefer the Valeir Divers. JorisPPattyn (4638), Antwerpen, Belgium Mar 28, 2006 Hazy mahogany beer; fast disappearing yellow-brown head. Very rich, malty, portwine aromas, but not oxydized, vinous, wood and some just-less-than-usually-strong brandy. Very dry, nearly wry, woody, dark malts taste - very surprising seen the nose! Restsugars all the same, bit caramelly. Rather well bodied, certain slickness. Dry-out effect. Surprising, but far from bad. I would have loved some tannine-like sourness, to make it more Flemish brown-like. Dark malts, dark green leaves, some dry dark chocolate, aromatic. Dry, grainy taste, dry hay flavour with dark malts, bit bready. Quite full bodied, very fiery throat feel, can’t be the alcohol though. There’s a new wind blowing through the old Contreras brewery.
