During the British Colonial Times, the English exported beer to India. To preserve the beer for a longer period, extra-hopped beers were produced (hops maintain natural preservation and add bitterness to the beer).

My Bottom Line:
This Belgian Ale’s pleasantly doughy cereals evolve into lightly citrusy and herbal hops, a flavor profile carried by big-bubbled effervescence and relative dryness.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A veil of foam covers the hazy hay blond.
-The mouthfeel and flavor profile are both really authentic. This is humble and very drinkable; feels like a countryside product all the way.
-The grassy, herbal hop bitterness is levelled, emboldened by the finishing dryness.
-All ingredients are harmonious. This one doesn’t try to impress; it’s simply very good from beginning to end. Great job.
-Discreet bubblegum phenolics roam within.

Bottle at ’t Brugs Beertje on 12-07-10 (3,00 euro). Cloudy blonde with a fluffy white head. Definite hop aroma in the nose. Smooth body with a smooth yet dry finish.

Bottle@Home. Very nice hops in the aroma. Hazy, yellow, off-white head, good lace. Sweet, bitter and hoppy start, less hoppy and more sweet in the finish, even malty. Soft mouth feel. Lovely hops in both aroma and start of the flavour but then it disappears which is a pity. Still a nice beer though.

Lemony, grassy hop aroma, some spice and a bit of honey. Tangy and clean. Brilliant deep gold with a fine, thick head. Clean, hoppy, fruity flavor with bread and just a bit of honey. Nice bitter finish. Crisp, light, clean and tasty. A nice, hoppy Belgian blonde, by far the best of the 4 beers I got from Contreras. Sports a rather saison-like dry finish. This type of hoppy Belgian medium weight blonde has become my favorite style this year. This is a pretty good example of it.

[3331-20100810] Tap. Delicious orange flesh hops aroma is fresh with hints of lemon grass. Hazy, light orange brown body with a long-lasting creamy white head and thick lacing. Very fresh orange hops flavour like a cream of hops citrus pie with a tart aftertaste that is just a little bit cheeky. Medium body is tart and saucy throughout. Yum, very drinkable!

There are light citus and floral notes to bring the IPA to a Belgian Ale. The ale pours beautiful cloudy golden with a big creamy head. The flavor is dry, light bitterness with a crisp body.
