chinchill (1879) - South Carolina, USA - APR 22, 2013
11.2 oz fat squat brown bottle of "Belgian IPA" served in a snifter. Coding indicates this may be an August 2011 bottling. The beer is cloudy, despite leaving a good bit of sediment in the bottle. The body is a pale brown-orange color, with a moderate size eggshell head than has good retention. Aroma: very fruity, suggesting apricots, old citrus and fresh dates. Light malts and some spicy and earthy hops too. Taste: perhaps due to the age, this is more like a Belgian Pale Ale in terms of hops. Still, very appealing and complex mix of fruity and lightly spicy flavors, with hints of caramel and honey It starts a bit sweet and ends balanced. Full bodied, juicy, with excellent medium-low carbonation. O: recommended,

0,65l Bottle: Thanx to Mr.Rask: Hazy yellow colour, thin head. Aroma dominates of sweet maltynes, some belgian yeastynes. Sweet maltynes is a surprice! Flavor had a smouth , mild mouthfeling of Sweet maltynes, and and citrus, and flowery and some apricot finish. Thin to medium body , medium fruity finish.

Bottle at home. Golden pour with a huge amount of chunks. Solid off-white head. Aroma of latex paint, ripe fruits, peppery, shoe sole and some herbs like rosemary. Flavor is bitter spicy and quite fruity with something strange and herbal. Still well balanced and quite unique.

33cl bottle, shared. - Most likely the most relaxed mix of a Belgian strong ale and an IPA I have yet come across on both sides of the pond. This brewery doesn’t even need to scream out its crossover style or use of US/exotic hops, it’s just called Extra and at a modest 6,5% it is packed with the subtlety of a Belgian ale yeast and some tangerine/citrus hops adding gentle summer flavours. A paean to subtlety that I prefer over other Belgian’s explicitous dryhopping experiments (Duvel) and some US (Flying Dog) triple IPAs, although they are points on the same sliding scale. - Probably sessionable.

Countbeer (4428) - Best of E-Town mit ein Brauhaus, NETHERLANDS - MAR 8, 2013
Bottle: Bigger sized, airy and fluffy off white head. A hazy orange colored beer. Aromas of hops, yeast, manure, cotrus, soap, floral, herbs, some chalk Flavours floral, hop, citrus, soap, sprinkle of honey, some smooth bitterness, grass, herbs, hay and hop florals. Aftertaste soap, hop, floral, light bitter, some yeast and grass. Low carbo, soft light watery mouthfeel, medium body and a light creamy texture. Pretty crispy and a fine beer overall.
