During the British Colonial Times, the English exported beer to India. To preserve the beer for a longer period, extra-hopped beers were produced (hops maintain natural preservation and add bitterness to the beer).

On tap @ Moeder Lambic Fontainas. Slightly hazy golden/orange with a frothy white head and heavy lacing. Aroma is of biscuity malt, herbal hops, spices and light bubblegum. Taste is moderately sweet with biscuity malt, perfume notes, spices and light herbal bitterness finish. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Slightly dry finish. Good Belgian Ale. Quenching.

Pours in clear pale body with medium creamy white head. Aroma is malty, hoppy, earthy, alcohol. Taste is sweet, low bitterness, metalic. Body is medium with fair carbonation.

Bottle. Nose screams of really old nasty hops that shouldn’t be consumed by anyone I like. There is a bit of yeast too, but the nasty hops dominate. Taste is slightly bitter, but tastes more of really old ipa than anything good. Yuck.

Tap in Moeder Fontainas. Bright golden colour, thickish foam. Bit of a disappointment this one, rather bland, kind of generic Belgianish ale. Really couldn’t think of much more to say, which says it all really. It was of course fine, but struggled in the environment. Dunno if batch was dodgy or something given other reviews, but I was sober and it was forgettable.

Bottle from Bottleworks.

Pours into a tulip with a rich nearly white head atop a body of cloudy amber with lots of sediment. The aroma is grapefruit hops and a touch of some strange oil lubricant. The flavor is surprisingly sweet and dominated by the grapefruit; light caramel below with apricot and bubblegum. This is a fairly one-dimensional beer and a strange one to my taste; oh SO easy to drink in a way that reminds me why I love beer.
