Bottle. Dark mahogany brown with a little head. Aroma is mainly coffee with a little fruit. The flavour is quite special, it almost seems to come in waves; first coffee and chocolate, then malt and then a nice fruit finish. Really complex and interesting mild.

Bottle. Dark brown but quite transparent. Some maltiness and a good body considering its strength. Some milds are quite straightforward but this has quite a lot of complexity. Recommended.

Nice malty and easy drinking mild. Didn’t get much liquorice in this, but very much a quenching beer, and moreish.

Cask-conditioned at the Bag ONails, Bristol 29/11/08 as ’mulberry dark’. Chestnut brown with reddish undertones and an off-white head that left attractive lacing down the glass. Aroma of dried fruit, spice and a hint of roastiness. Flavour began with some caramel, before preserved fruits, cinnamon and a bitter finish. Original and very good.
