2.9 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Very dark amber colour, tan head, creamy mouthful. First few sips had good roasty malt taste. Finish was dry and oily and had a veg/spicy taste which I assume was the hemp oils. Pretty good beer if you ask me. I like the look of the label too, but that doesnít really matter.

Marketing at its finest. Mahogany colour with a medium bubbled head. Oat and straw aroma. Interesting strong herbal flavour. Mouth drying finish. The beer was better than expected. A cheap beer but made with a little more care than expected.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Intersting marketing idea-- letís add some hemp seed so we can put some pot leaves on the label! This beer looked good-- deep copper-amber-- and had an interesting brown-bread malt aroma, but was fairly neutral in the flavour department. Mostly caramel/honey flavoured malt with something vaguely vegetal. Boxboard-dry finish, a little salty even. Thin. But having said all that, I would choose this over any cheaply made pale lager.

we got this one while we were in canada, thought it would be a bit more special, definitely has the hemp smell to it, but another typical beer with no lasting or distinct flavor

Volo Cask Days 2005. Not sure if this beer lends itself well to the cask. Harsh grainy aroma. Dark brown pour, no head. Thin mouthfeel. Flavour is rather bland and inoffensive - just a standard lager really, only served from a cask. Kudos for giving it a try (met the brewer who was a hell of a nice guy).

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
Cask half-pint at Volo Cask Days. I was kind if surprised to see something from these guys at the Volo cask festival given their reputation as being the beer of choice at divey sports bars and taverns where the tap handles are unlabelled and every just orders "a glass of draft", not really caring what theyíre served. Nice to see them taking a risk with a cask lager. Pours a dark ruby-amber colour with a slight haziness - looks quite nice. Aroma is a little roasty, with some sweet caramel, and a sourness in the background that isnít really bad, just a little strange. Flavour has more of that sourness, with a mild roastiness, and a lightly bittered finish. Not the most exciting beer, but kudos for the attempt.

draught. copper body with a tiny white bubbly head. aroma creamy caramel malts. flavour is much of the same and is fairly thin and bland. Itís not exactly offensive so I imagine one could pound a few of these back if they were so inclined.

Bottle. Nothing special here. Red colour, tiny whte head. Earthy flavour, canít quite put my finger on it. Goes down smooth. Worth trying, just donít expect a lot.
