Oakes (6966), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 16, 2002 Dark amber; very fresh, malty aroma; not much taste, some rye bread notes but that’s about it. Cool Beer Girls = skankalicious. muzzlehatch (4424), Burlington, Vermont, USA Jun 30, 2005 Sample from 341 ml bottle at the Mondial. Dark maple with a lasting whiff of head.....gingerbread and rye apparent in the faintly malty, hop-free aroma, bit of vegetable...watery, honey-accented body offers little to sink your teeth into, but unlike "Cool" this is reasonably fresh and clean-tasting. Dull. tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Jun 18, 2005 Updated: Jul 5, 2005Mild cabbagey toffee aroma. Clear copper brown with a low tan head that recedes rapidly to a thick ring. Toffee, cabbage, cardboard flavours. Salty in the finish. Medium-light body with moderate carbonation. Sampled at Mondial de la Bière 2005. Resampled from a bottle straight from the fridge and had pretty much the same experience... Thanks, Lubiere! JoeMcPhee (3807), Jackson Heights, New York, USA May 2, 2005 341 ml bottle. Deep ruby colour with a thin creamy off-white head. Light sweet malty aroma, a touch of nuttiness and light cherry fruit. Creamy texture but seems a bit flat tasting. Very fruity, nutty flavour. Better than I expected. ClarkVV (3547), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Jun 13, 2005 6/4/05 at Mondial. Dark caramel colored beer, probably some caramel coloring. Beige head retained well, surprisingly, and recedes slowly to a ring. Caramel in the nose, little bit of cardboard and sipcy something, not sure if it is hops. Some DMS. Flavor is more caramel, very simple and lightly sweet. Some sticky toffee-like notes, and a strong dose of salty pretzels. Mostly bland finish, thinning heavily. Low carbonation overall and a medium to medium-light body. Starts off surprisingly well, but then goes nowhere.
