4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 curly (2352) - Seattle (Newcastle), USA - JUN 3, 2011
Just had a pint. As previously stated, the coconut aroma is not off the charts, in fact it is almost hard to find, until you take a sip, then you get the taste and it’s easier to pick out in the aroma from there on. The aroma is mostly roasty malts and mild coconut, the taste follows the same lines, very easy to drink, not overly sweet, nice and roasty. The only other coconut porters I can recall having had were Maui-very good, and Big Sky-pretty sweet and hard to drink a lot of. This surpasses them both since it has good coconut flavor but is not insanely sweet or over the top. Solid.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 Dogbrick (4837) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - MAY 29, 2012
Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a brownish-black color with a medium beige head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and coconut. Light to medium body with a slightly artificial toasted coconut coffee flavor (although not in a bad way). Notes of mild hops and chocolate as well. The finish is toasty with a coconut aftertaste. Not as good as Maui but still pretty good.

UPDATED: NOV 3, 2010 Damn when I first saw the ratings, I thought no way. No way this is a four point beer. Never would have thought that this beer was that good. Well I was WRONG. It is that good. I hate coconut, truly hate it. But this is just so well done. The aroma of the beer doesn’t scream coconut at all. It’s a smooth smelling roasty, coffee, dark malt chocolate porter on the nose. The coconut really doesn’t come on strong until you taste it. When you do, it’s hella good. Rich but smooth. Full but easy drinking. Sweet but balanced with some nice bitterness. Too damn easy to drink. A buddy and I crushed a growler in under an hour. Damn! Mike Kraft! Make some more of this bad boy.
4.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20 HopKitty (59) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 27, 2010
Pours with a fluffy head, lacing. Aroma is like coconut ice cream with little coconut shavings on top. Flavor is light, malty, sweet, and a bit nutty. Comparable to Guiness, except with a light coconut flavor. Love this one!
4.6 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20 Rustyham (1396) - Nashville, Tennessee, USA - AUG 27, 2010
UPDATED: AUG 29, 2010 I can drink this by the gallon, it is so good. Pitch black, off white, egg-shell head. Aroma of coconut milk and deep roasted malt. Flavor is fantastic- chewy pumpernickel bread, coconut shavings, peanut butter, honey. Cashews. I want to fuck this beer. Growler filled at the brewery.
