COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed in the style of an American Pale Ale, a "dry hopping" technique is used where generous amounts of hops are added to the beer during its maturation stage which gives the beer an unmistakable floral and citrusy aroma. This beer is also known for its firm hop bitterness which is balanced nicely by the sweetness of the crystal malts used in this recipe.

On tap at Cool Springs. Nice pine and citrus rind with just a but of malt in the background. Quite dry and fairly bitter. Something to the finish I don’t quite like

Clear medium amber, very still, no bubbles. Small head that quickly reduces to the rim, thin streaks of lace. Taste is caramel malt that is quickly pushed aside by cascade hops. Hop presence is nearly overpowering, even though the hop ibu is relatively low. The malt does make a partial recovery in the finish, which helps a lot with balance. This is similar to many brewpub IPAs, with no characteristic to make it memorable. Drinkable, strong enough flavor, though probably too much hoppiness for the malt lover, not enough for the hophead.

Pours a clear amber with small head and minimal lacing. Starts of with strong bitter taste with grapefruit aromas. Toasted malt backbone, but primarily a hop forward IPA. Moderate carbonation with medium body and clean mouthfeel. Long, bitter finish. I like this.

Sample at the brewpub. This beer pours a clear dark amber-orange color with a medium creamy white head that dissipates slowly to a compact film. Partial sheets of lacing on the glass. Aroma of hops, fruit and malt. Medium body with a moderately bitter hops character and notes of citrus and caramel malt. The finish is fruity with a short hoppy aftertaste. Decent all around.

Pours clear orange with thin lacing. Earthy, dry hops on the nose. Full bodied palate is very earthy and tastes of pine and resin. Good hop presence and nicely balanced palate. Tastes like an IPA. The menu calls it an ipa...not sure if they changed the recipe?

Sampler pours a soft amber with a white head. Aroma is of floral hops and a little sweetness. Taste is also of the hops with a sweet note. Very nice beer.

Sweet hibiscus aroma, lots of grapefruit. Flavor is cottony with slight seawater. I wish I had this more fresh, next time it’s brewed I’ll go down there and rerate. On tap at the brewery during the Nashville Beer Summit.

Nice IPA from Cool Springs Brewery. New establishment, and this is their trademark beer.

Growler, courtesy jcwattsruger. Pours a clear, dark, golden amber color with a small, frothy, khaki colored head. Settling to a thick-bubbled edge, the head leaves sticky flares and ribbons of lacing on the glass. The aroma is based in sweet, bready malt, with hints of toffee and honey, as countering notes of orange-grapefruit hops, pine, and a hint of peppercorn spice. Flavors show ample hop bitterness, with notes of grass and pine resin joining the oily grapefruit peel, but the malt base is overly sweet, taxing the hops with sugary toffee and caramel malts. There is a nice hint of peppery spice on the back end. Medium bodied and mostly smooth, with some lightly prickly carbonation, the body again falls a bit short when it comes to the laborious, malty sugars. Eh, decent brew, but nothing special.
