Brewed in the style of an American Pale Ale, a "dry hopping" technique is used where generous amounts of hops are added to the beer during its maturation stage which gives the beer an unmistakable floral and citrusy aroma. This beer is also known for its firm hop bitterness which is balanced nicely by the sweetness of the crystal malts used in this recipe.

Draft at the brewpub. Pours almost clear copper with a creamy beige head and lots of lacing. Tastes like strong hop resin and grapefruit, caramel and earthy malt, spicy hops, citrus hops, and pine. Light/medium body and carbonation. Smells like hop resin, some grapefruit, some pine, caramel and earthy malt, and light spice.

Tasted on 7/14/12 on draft at the brewery. Pours clear orange with an amber tint and an average beige head that slowly recedes to average lace. The nose is bitter citrus peel hops with some caramel and bread malt. The flavor is dominated by aggressively bitter citrus peel with light caramel and bread backing everything up. The body is medium with average carbonation and a medium citrus hops finish.

bomber shared with a non hoppy friend. poured a medium orange with white head. nice lacing on the glass, the aroma was citrus and floral straight up with a medium malt base. the flavor pretty much the same you get a medium malt base with plenty of citrus...the bitterness doesn’t last very long nor is it cloying. over all pretty good apa.

Poured a clear orange amber with a lasting amber head. aromas of bread, candied orange and grapefruit. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a dry finish. Flavors of bread, orange and pink grapefruit with a crisp dry lightly bitter lingering orange finish.

On tap at brewery. A little on the lighter side of amber. Not much head retention. This hits the nose with pungent hops. While there is some malt support here, the overall experience is very hops forward. Even though it had less hops than the darker SHAFT IPA, many people at the table found this to be the hoppiest beer.

On tap at Cool Springs. Nice pine and citrus rind with just a but of malt in the background. Quite dry and fairly bitter. Something to the finish I don’t quite like

Clear medium amber, very still, no bubbles. Small head that quickly reduces to the rim, thin streaks of lace. Taste is caramel malt that is quickly pushed aside by cascade hops. Hop presence is nearly overpowering, even though the hop ibu is relatively low. The malt does make a partial recovery in the finish, which helps a lot with balance. This is similar to many brewpub IPAs, with no characteristic to make it memorable. Drinkable, strong enough flavor, though probably too much hoppiness for the malt lover, not enough for the hophead.
