This Belgian-style dark ale is the culmination of central and western European malts, Noble hops, candy sugar and a traditional Trappist yeast. Notes of dried fruit, cinnamon and vanilla make DNR a very complex experience to be enjoyed in moderation.

On tap T Pepeís in Norman. Deep amber color with thin creme colored head. Light lacing. It smells of candied sugar, booze and spices. Nice yeast character. The flavor is right on for this Belgian. Delicious! Thank you Coop!

Pours a cloudy orange color. Aroma of dried fruit, cinnamon and vanilla. Can taste the alcohol but not very strong. Hint of banana flavor, with a bigger fruity taste. Nice aftertaste of pit fruits and caramel. One of my favorite beers. Had my first at Bolero in Oklahoma City.

Sampled at GABF 2009. Pale, golden pour. Aromas of Belgian yeast, bubblegum, and a hint of sour funkiness. Sweet flavor, lightly sour. Good overall.

Deep dark amber coloured body with a nice sized, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of pit fruits, alcohol, caramel and a potent malt backbone. Full-bodied; Strong alcohol dominates the flavour up front with a pit fruit taste soon after and a very mild banana and clove taste soon afterwards. Aftertaste show some nice complexity to round out the taste, although a lot of pit fruits and caramel are still noticeable - along with the alcohol. The most prominent thing on the end is a fixation of pepper and vanilla, but those arenít the most noticeable flavours. Overall, a nice attempt and a good beer to sample locally, but a bit too strong for a final beer - still good for others to sample though. I sampled this beer on draught at TapWerks in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma on 02-September-2009.

Bottle thanks to Boomer0813. The look is cloudy golden in color, with a smooth white head. Handbottled. The smell is fruits, yeast, sugar, belgian. The taste is about the same as the smell.

Poured a slightly hazy copper color with a thin ring of white foam and no lace. The aroma was a ton of malts and brown sugar. Vanilla and a whiff of booze. The flavor was malts, brown sugar and some alcohol heat that was not out of place, but threatening to dominate at times. Medium, almost oily mouthfeel. A nice effort, just a tad one-dimensonal.

UPDATED: NOV 26, 2010 Pours a hazy orange/ amber color. Smells of sweet grains and malt. Taste is just what you expect from a Belgian Strong Ale, strong powerful flavor of grains, malt, and yeast. Very good beer. I must say that this is the first beer brewed in the state of Oklahoma that I actually will seek out to drink. I canít wait until they have it available in bottles, or just let me buy a keg of it.

[Tap] Pours a hazy amber color with a small amount of white head. Sweet aroma of citrus, spice and clove. The taste is quite balanced. Good amounts of citrus and other light fruits. Clove, bubblegum, unrefined sugar and vanilla leave a smooth and creamy finish. I didnít get much in the way of hops in this beer. An ABV of 10%? You would never guess unless you had a few of them. Probably the best beer Iíve had from the state of Oklahoma.

(Handbottle, thanks to boomer0813) Pours dark yellow with no head. Nose is orange oil and lemon zest some candi sugar. Taste is very lemony, hoppy and alcohol is present. The bitter/lemon finish lingers here too. For me this was a little one-dimensional and not my favorite.
