troyc (1173), Lubbock, Texas, USA Aug 6, 2009 [Tap] Pours a clear amber color with a nice inch of off-white head. A hoppy aroma includes some light citrus and pine and makes you wonder if they brought you the right beer, considering it’s an Amber. Biscuit and light molasses notes in the taste. A good amount of malt in here, but it almost seems like an hybrid of a few beer styles. That being said, I am happy to see such a unique beer being brewed in Oklahoma. BLButler08 (12), Carlsbad, California, USA Aug 4, 2009 Crystal clear, copper color, great head retention and good german lace. A nicely done amber. Not too sweet as most ambers that I have tried. Very crisp and clean. With a nice hop aroma and balanced mouthfeel. I would almost consider this a pale with the amount of hops. I loved it lumpsowers (235), Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, USA May 28, 2009 Cloudy copper pour, big head, lots of lace. Low alcoholic aroma. Smokey caramel flavor, with some piny alcohol also. Low carb, but compliments the beer. A nice sweet caramel, with a slight earthy smokiness. Good, not quite as good as the Horny Toad.
OldBoss (27), Tuttle, Oklahoma, USA Apr 27, 2009 Have tried this several times since the brewery launch, and it has improved each time. Early versions pour reddish brown with an off white head, with a moderate malt aroma and light fruity note. The first taste brings chocolate to the forefront, with a mild carbonic bite, but this beer has developed over time and is more subtle and complex, with better balance between malt, hops and carbonation. Any sweaty socks character (Hbuck72) had to be an anomally at the tap bar, becasue I have tasted this numerous times and never experienced any real off flavors. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel - one of my tap brew favorites. BREW!!! Hbuck72 (122), Chickasha, Oklahoma, USA Mar 22, 2009 Updated: Mar 31, 2009Wow this beer was a disapointment! I had it from McNellies in OKC, and it really tasted like old socks! I was shocked! it looked good, had a decent aroma and head. However it has a very harsh finish, and a horrid gym-sock like after taste.
I have heard a lot of good things about this brewery, and I will try some of their other beers. Very well could have been something on the bars end that caused the taste, maybe dirty lines or glass. milljam (562), Norman, Oklahoma, USA Mar 10, 2009 Mmmmm....quite the delicious amber. Not as sweet as some ambers, and the flavor profile is a bit different, but it definitely creates a unique amber. Notes of biscuit, caramel and herbal hops on the nose. The flavor is delicious, with chocolate, roasted malt and toffee, followed by a hint of hops. Overall a great session beer, or just a great beer to enjoy on a cool fall night.
