Pours black as night with a small tan head. The smell is very malty, coffee with a hint of chocolate and smokiness. Sits on the palate nicely. Very mellow for a stout. Good beer.

Bottle (longneck): Black to very dark brown with a light brown/tan head that held for some time. Aroma of espresso coffee and dark chocolate with some cinnamon notes. Complex flavour of the same with a nice thick bitterness to finish. A fine, well balanced palate with a syrupy texture and soft carbonation. Very nice.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pours out opaque black with an adequate tan head. Aroma of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Some spice notes. Seemed to have a little carbonation that took away from the flavor and body. Still it was a good drink. Would drink again.

Pours a deep black colour. Burnt coffee aromas. Avoids being too sweet or syrupy. Alot of remaining sediment in bottle. Highly recommended.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
UPDATED: JUN 25, 2005 Black body with burgundy edges and a loose tan head. Aroma of roast, cigar, plums, figs, coffee, and dark chocolate. More character can be found in a slightly oxidized sample. Roasted coffee and tangy malt flavor. Finishes roasty, bitter, and sour. Oily mouthfeel. A good cigar stout.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle - Poured a black hue with medium tan head. Aroma was a mix of roasted malt and woody aging. Flavor was full with roasted malt with a oily finish. The finish was short and was more bitter than other stouts I have tasted. Drinkable, but not the first choice.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Black color, brown head. Light liquorice aroma, eucalyptus, roasted malt. Good mix of roasted malts and liquorice, very light herbs, reasonable body structure, but not enough class.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Good stout aroma - chocolate, coffee, moderate fruitiness, and a little caramel. Dark, dark brown in color, almost black, decent tan head. Flavor is dominated by roasted grains, strong coffee flavor with some supporting chocolate and caramel, a bitter roasty finish. Full-bodied and smooth. Nice rich and heavy stout.
