2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20
Medium brown hue with some reddish highlights, small tan head and almost no lace. The aroma hinted of burnt chocolate and black malts, espresso, mild citrus, and backyard yeast. The taste was bitter thoughout. Smokey and dry. A slight fruity twang towards the finish, but mostly sublime in nature. A bit one-diminsional on the palate. The mouthfeel was lively and watery. An average stout at best, I like the Old Australia Stout I had before this much better.

1.1 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 3/20
Pretty much the same as what everyone is saying. A dry expresso flavour. I don't mind the bitterness and find it a bit abrasive.

3.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Expresso nose, oily texture. Initially a bit acrid but ballances out just fine as it warms up. A sour note, but that's ok for a stout. Good.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bitter? hmmm....sure I guess, but I found the bitterness so dry it was more of a parched espresso mixed with thick smokiness. There is a kind of swelling intensity to the flavor that is best at the finish - the espresso mellows out and your left with simply a pleasurable smooth roasted flavor. A decent stout, but nothing to write home about.

2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
chocolate and coffee flavours bitter roasted malts, i found the dry bitterness a bit too much for my tastes but concede that it's a nice drop.

3.3 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Black, opaque pour that has a small tannish head. Aroma is very light. Mostly roast malts, some fruits, maybe grapes. A nice flavor of roast malt, some mocha and chocolate. Medium bodied, finishes with a touch of bitterness. Good stout.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12.7 oz bottle, snifter, 55 degrees F. Very large, creamy, rocky, brown head diminishes slowly and sits on a nearly opaque black body. Mild coffee, molasses, dark chocolate (H); plum, ruby port, smoke aromas. Moderately sweet, lightly acidic throughout with a moderate bitterness in the finish. Medium-heavy body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. The bottom line is: a little weak in the flavor, but quite nice otherwise.

4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
A pitch black stout that has a wonderful cofee aroma. It has a wonderfully rich taste and hardly seems the relativily high 6.3%ABV.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
A very dark and oily pour, with little to no head. A very subtle roasted aroma. Flavor is very roasted, subtle and slightly light in the mouthfeel.

bottle-i dont know about this one. I think my bottle may have been old and/or infected. The aroma was way off-smelled very sweet and somewhat skunked. I will have to re-rate this brew. I could see this brew being pretty good with a fresh sample.
