COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Now here’s a beer with punch. Coopers Stout is a beacon for lovers of a hearty brew. With its robust flavour comprising a blend of fruit, chocolate and hop bitter notes it’s everything a stout should be. Brewed naturally using a top fermentation method, Coopers Stout’s unique rich, dark texture comes from specially roasted black malt.

A very good stout! Roasted malts and a little coffee to the nose. Bitter-sweet. Somewhat watery mouthfeel, but less filling. Apparent yeast sediment.

Aroma has plenty of caramel, chocolate and coffee/roasty notes. Slight vanilla and liquorice as well. Beer has a nice mouthfeel with a low amount of carbonation. Very creamy with flavors of dark bitter chocolate, caramel and hazelnuts with a distinctly bitter, liquoricy and roasty finish.

Bottle from Plonk. Pours rich brown-black with small bubbly tan head. Aroma has dark roast, hint of chocolate, and some alcohol. Dry finish, with dark malt astringent/acidic finish that I’d prefer to be absent. medium carbonation, medium body. Overall a nice, very drinkable extra stout. One of the best coopers beers.

The aroma from the bottle gets lost in the glass, where I got a damp wool or ash aroma. It looks great, pours well, its nicely. I found it had a dry finish which I didn’t expect but wasn’t unpleasant. IF anything this is over-carbonated, if they could dial that back this would be awesome. For bang for bucks this though is O for Awesome (that’s a kiwi joke you might look it up)

Amazing stout when compared to the better know brands. It has a very strong roasted malt taste with hints of chocolate and berries, solid mouth feel, and as a sign its richness, light does not penetrate a pint.

Solid stoute. Nice deep dark color . Minimal head. Nose is chocolate and dark malt. Taste is dry, bitter, dark chocolate with dark malts and black coffee. It is a fine stoute which at 6.3% should be consumed slowly at the right temperature.

Best after 4/21/14. Pours dark as a starless night. World class head volume, lacing and retention. Outstanding nose of chocolate, roast and a hint of coffee. Underneath are notes of black cherry, anise and currant. Almost medium bodied with a rich smooth texture that has creamy moments. Superb carbonation with a nice effervescence from the middle on ending with a nice prickly finish. The outstanding flavor profile is intense, but not harsh, somewhat complex and well balanced. All flavors of the nose are present, but never separate very much. Light fruit notes (currant, cherry) begin then flow to a mild subtle roast bitterness in the middle that also has a hop influence. Chocolate makes it’s strongest showing in the finish during the slow fade as does a bit of uncovered alcohol.
