3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
12 oz bottle. Pours a dark brown, some tan head. Looks great. Aroma is strong roasted barley, some smoky notes. Flavor is mostly malt, very roasty, very full tasting. I found the palate to be very lively for a stout, it makes the body seem thinner than it actually is. Overall a very drinkable stout.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Best after 4/21/14. Pours dark as a starless night. World class head volume, lacing and retention.
Outstanding nose of chocolate, roast and a hint of coffee. Underneath are notes of black cherry, anise and currant.
Almost medium bodied with a rich smooth texture that has creamy moments. Superb carbonation with a nice effervescence from the middle on ending with a nice prickly finish.
The outstanding flavor profile is intense, but not harsh, somewhat complex and well balanced. All flavors of the nose are present, but never separate very much. Light fruit notes (currant, cherry) begin then flow to a mild subtle roast bitterness in the middle that also has a hop influence. Chocolate makes it’s strongest showing in the finish during the slow fade as does a bit of uncovered alcohol.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
The aroma from the bottle gets lost in the glass, where I got a damp wool or ash aroma. It looks great, pours well, its nicely. I found it had a dry finish which I didn’t expect but wasn’t unpleasant. IF anything this is over-carbonated, if they could dial that back this would be awesome. For bang for bucks this though is O for Awesome (that’s a kiwi joke you might look it up)

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Amazing stout when compared to the better know brands. It has a very strong
roasted malt taste with hints of chocolate and berries, solid mouth feel, and as a sign its richness, light does not penetrate a pint.

Bottle from Plonk. Pours rich brown-black with small bubbly tan head. Aroma has dark roast, hint of chocolate, and some alcohol. Dry finish, with dark malt astringent/acidic finish that I’d prefer to be absent. medium carbonation, medium body. Overall a nice, very drinkable extra stout. One of the best coopers beers.
