DandyWolfFloyd (200), Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, USA Apr 13, 2008 Had this at a beer fest. Man this is gravy. I like it a whole bunch. It’s aromatic with huge roasty barley and malty overtones. It’s appearance is black as oil. It’s full of brown head, and overall it’s sexy. It’s flavor is roasty and toasty, super malted. It’s palate feel is adequate, with a bunch of bitter notes. Awesome!
texasbartender (129), Sugarland, Texas, USA Jul 20, 2008 The beer pours a totally black brown with a thin off white head that doesn’t hang around. The nose is a great mix of burnt malts. Bitter sweet chocolate and coffee. The taste is right in step with the nose; a slightly bitter mix of chocolate malts and coffee. screwball (677), Motala, Sweden Jul 20, 2008 Bottle. Black. No head. Aroma is little grassy, coffe and dark chocolate. Taste is from coffee and liquorice. Medium dry and quite light brew for beeing a stout. Veer (321), Landskrona, Sweden Jul 14, 2008 Aroma: milk, coffee, roasted, chocolate, tobacco, burnt.
Flavour: sweetish, milk chocolate, caffè latte, pretty mild & soapy.
Palate: sappy, milky & fizzy. Slightly fat & bubbly.
Appearance: blackish brown with dark beige head. Pretty nice. SuperDave70 (652), Arizona, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours a clear black with a small tan head. Aroma of roasted grain and malt. Roasty sweet caramel malt and chocolate flavor. A bit thin on the palate. Not bad for a six pack stout. nobadbeer (2), centerville,, Ohio, USA does not count Jul 6, 2008 A stout on steroids- looks, feels, smells and tastes great. A nice blend of bitter and sweet.
This came as a beer of the month club item, and I usually dread when they ship a stout; but I’d actually buy this onr. I’ve never said that about a stout before; even if it came from Ireland; and you know who I mean.
