Bottle. Pours black with a decent brown head. Licorice and coffee aroma, roasted, a bit smoky and with some bitterness. Malty chocolate flavor, roasted, some tar, some smoke, nice bitterness growing in the back. Dry, smoked finish with hops.

Jul 3, 2008 Sampled out of a bottle. Pours nice and dark. Has a lot of good malts and roasted flavors. Color is quite dark and the bubbels have a very nice dark hue.

Jul 3, 2008 Pours dark brown with a fizzy quite to dissolve tan head. Smells of roasted malts and caramel. The flavor here is pretty smoky and roasty with a hint of chocolate but it does feel a little watery, the one thing I hate in a porter. Nice burnt aftertaste it leaves with a bitter bite, and smooth. Well balenced.

does not count  Jul 3, 2008 When this beer is at its best, it is easily one of my favourite stouts. The trouble lies in its inconsistency. You might taste the world’s best stout in one bottle or pint from the tap on one occasion and then something that almost makes you gag the next. It is a beer that cries out to be aged!! Age this beer for a year and what you have is essentially Coopers special old stout (now discontinued unfortunately) as the recipe for both was the same. At its best, this beer boasts a huge chocolate mudcake flavour. At its worst, the beer is watery and horribly bitter.

Jun 28, 2008 Bottled. Pours black with a medium brown head. Aroma is coffee, chocolate, and bourbon. Flavor is a smooth chocolate with coffee flavors and a hint of bourbon. Very smooth and milky. Strong but mellow flavor profile. The malt body is the only real weakness. A little bit too watery, yet still superb.
