3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 nick76 (3583) - Tampa, USA - APR 12, 2006
The aroma is coffee like, with yeast, and caramel. The appearance is brown with a medium head and huge particles. The flavor is like the aroma with the addition of some chocolate and lots of bread like malt. The palate is smooth. It’s a simple but nice beer!

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Sevenlee (537) - Central Coast, NSW, AUSTRALIA - FEB 25, 2012
Pours a dark brown colour with a light brown head. Aroma is malty, with notes of caramel and nuts. Taste is also malty with some nuts and caramel leading to a light bitter finish. Not bad.
3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20 Maris (544) - Canberra, AUSTRALIA - FEB 18, 2012
From a 375ml bottle on 19/2/2012. Pours a cloudy dark brown with a big head. Has a slight caramel malt aroma. The flavour is quite roasty, with some sweet caramel and toffee in the mix. Has a light body and medium carbonation. A solid, if unspectacular, brown ale.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. Kind of like Tooheys Old, but not as sweet and a little more roasty. Nice enough dark ale

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20 reebtogi (2169) - Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA - JUL 26, 2011
poured dark brown with beige head and light lacing, a good degree of maltiness, but could use a little more bitterness, but overall an easier drinking dark ale.
3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 sm89walt (1419) - Norwich, Norfolk, ENGLAND - JUL 3, 2011
Bottle. Poured with a medium, frothy & fading but regenerative tan head atop a dark brown body. Slightly choccy on the nose with biscuity and roasted malt tones. Biscuity, bready malts. A bit hollow on the mid palate & slightly grainy. A delicate roasty bitterness to finish. Light to medium body, fair carbonation with a lingering sweet malt aftertaste.
3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 michclark (88) - AUSTRALIA - JUN 1, 2011
Not a bad beer. Not a big fan of dark ales but this one goes down pretty easy. Nice mixture of flavours and a strong finish.
2.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20 EdKing (937) - London, Greater London, ENGLAND - MAY 4, 2011
Bottle from Kris Wines. Pours black with reddish tinge. Aroma is nice. At first it’s fruity: orange, dried fruit. Then roasted flavours coming through and chocolate and coffee. Taste is disappointing though. It’s too carbonated, bit thin in the mouth and lacking body. More of a swartzbier than stout or porter. Not a lot of flavour coming through, although slightly too chilled. On the finish it’s roasted flavours, again lots of fizz. Bit watery.
