COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The flavour lies somewhere between our Sparkling Ale and Stout but the texture and appearance is less syrupy and cleaner. Coopers Dark Ale is top fermented in the traditional manner. A combination of dark and medium-roasted malt produces this rich, flavoursome brew that's especially satisfying in nippy weather.

Bottled. Pours quite thick, dark brown color, greyish beige head, fair lace. Aroma is light fruity - do I smell some pear? - and skunky grain. Light sweet, light bitter, dark malts, hint of roastiness, hint of butterscotch, bit skunky in the finish. Medium to light body, little dry. As the bottled said ’best after’ I was hoping this was going to be something nice, but it’s quite disappointing.

Brown color with a quick head of tan bubbles that diminish to a small lid quickly. Clean, but minimal aroma. Just a touch of toasted malt. Mild roasted and toasted malt flavors. Some floral undertones. Quite thin in feel. A real beginners type brown ale.

Eclipse brown color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is malty and sweet. A medium bodied “Brown Ale”. Malts are nutty and sweet. Hops are pretty much non-existent. Kind of watery and not very malty. It has some cola like qualities, most noticeably in the carbonation and aftertaste. All of the other beers from Cooper’s have been drinkable except this one is not. I would not say avoid at all costs, but unless you are looking for a rating I would avoid this one. Mouthfeel is watery. Finish is crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter with a touch of caramel sweetness.

Poured out of 12.7 oz bottle murky brown with tan head and lacing. The aroma seems a tad off since I can smell some metal coming from a beer bottled in glass and served in glass. There were also light aromatic notes of roasted to burnt malts. The flavor comes across as coffee, black patent malts and chocolate. The body seems somewhat watery.

Bottle (12oz). Shared with blankboy, his bottle. Poured deep mahogany with a huge flock of chunkies, smallish biege head. Some light caramel malt, but I get sulfurous yeast, dry scorched grain - not very nice. Taste follows - this is a bit like caramel-flavoured water strained through harsh grains and broken nutshells - lightly carbonated, sort of ugly aftertaste, watery body - the pale was okay, this is pretty substandard.

Dark brown body with some red on the edges. The light tan head is persistent. The aroma is caramel and some light chocolate. There also is a weird note of coconut. The taste is light chocolate and some flat cola. There is also some rotting wood in the the finish. The promising smell gives way to a strange tasting brown. It needs some more body and character.

Poured from the bottle a deep mahogany brown with barely any head. Wood-chippy aroma. Smooth and nutty flavor with just a twirl of a tart finish.

12-oz. Pours dark brown with absolutely no head, which is startling given that it’s at room temperature. Nearly an opaque beer. Plummy aromas, mixed with some scorched cherries. No visible carb, but there’s some fizz in the light body. Some char, some tobacco smoke, but both are very subdued. Somewhat assertive--for a brown. Not much happening here.

Bottled(375ml). -Brown cola coloured, creamy brown head. Weak roasted malt and coffee taste with notes of burnt sugar, nuts and hint of chocolate in the finish. Quite weak but not watery.
