375ml bottle.Dark ruby in colour with a large rocky tan and cream head which was thick to look at. Aroma of toffee and burnt malt with a hint of coffee and chocolate. Zingy in the mouth with a lingering flavour of burnt toffee. Could drink several of these.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 davidm (1361) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - SEP 26, 2009
Bottle 375ml. Good taste, but mouthfeel is watery. Aroma has dark fruit, raisins, coffee, and also yeast. Flavour is sweet, with a bitter finish, not long-lasting. It feels watery in the mouth, the finish is dry, and has high carbonation. Dark brown in colour, the white head doesn’t last, and it’s cloudy from the yeast residue.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20 doublebock (357) - California, USA - DEC 8, 2007
Brown-Maroon color. Minimal head. Aroma is bready and malty. Flavor is sweet smooth maltiness but palate is unfortuantely flat. Aftertaste is a bit musty but then an unexpected coffee bite.
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 ComradeK (526) - Blue Mountains, AUSTRALIA - OCT 26, 2008
UPDATED: DEC 14, 2008 A beer that improves the more you drink it. I was not in the least impressed by it on first drinking, however with later tastings it got better. Strong flavour, with good carbonation and a firm finish. Good beer for a reasonable price.

Great, but certainly not the best from Coopers
3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Jahills (151) - Cambridge (Hobart), AUSTRALIA - AUG 11, 2003
This is the only dark ale i would buy as it doesnt have any harsh full flavoured bad tastes. Lighter tasting but quite dark when poured into a glass.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 yalnikim (800) - Wellington, NEW ZEALAND - AUG 10, 2006
Tasted 10/08/2006. 350ml bottle from Regional Wines and Spirits.
Deep chestnut with a short-lasting light tan head. Chunks of yeast like gold dust. Mild cocoa and coffee on the nose, cinnamon later. Dry and light in the mouth with a very light pithy bitterness and stonefruit on the palate. Discovered a week or two back (notes from then the same with a hint of ginger on nose, which I didn’t get this time). Wow - a lovely antipodean mild, super easy drinking.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 dwyerpg (3575) - Las Vegas, Nevada, USA - JUN 15, 2007
Pretty decent aroma. Not much hops but fresh. Definitely a brown ale in flavor, this is light and crisp and almost too nutty for me, bur in the end I liked it.
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 beerinmarch (2830) - Washington, USA - MAY 3, 2007
Pours dark brown with a smooth tan head. Roasty chocolate aroma with a bit of sticky molasses character. Nice beer that seems more of a porter.
