COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The flavour lies somewhere between our Sparkling Ale and Stout but the texture and appearance is less syrupy and cleaner. Coopers Dark Ale is top fermented in the traditional manner. A combination of dark and medium-roasted malt produces this rich, flavoursome brew that's especially satisfying in nippy weather.

Bottle: Aroma had a decent rasted nut scent. Dark body with tan had. Flavor was mediun bodyed with roasty, nut and some chocolate. Had a sample of this beer couple of week ago thought the body was richer in that one. Freshness and temp of beer may make a difference in these Cooper beers.

Bottled & on tap. Good, honest brown without the complexity of a great. Nice caramel flavours and aromas, decent, smooth mouthfeel and a solid, semi-stouty, burnt aftertaste.

picked up a 6-pack at MGM since i don’t recall seeing it there before. quickly diminishing head and virtually no lacing on its brown body. malt most notable in aroma and flavor, some coco notes as well. hint of hops in the finish rounds out this suprising nice brew.

Appearance: Pours a clear, deep, dark brown body with a very wispy, white head. Smell: Humble aroma of dark fruits and slightly caramel-scented and bready malt notes. Taste: Toasted bready malts and dark caramel, though with only a mild sweetness. Touch of dark fruitiness, mainly plums. Mild hop character and bitterness. Drying finish with one last hint of fruit. Grows increasingly watery in the latter half, it’s good that it finishes when it does. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Medium carbonation. Drinkability: Most of the Coopers have been poopers, but this Dark Ale, well, it’s downright acceptable.

There is no head on this dark brown pour, but it is pretty fizzy. I like Cooper’s no-nonsense circular labels. A good quality malty-floral aroma. It seems like a hoppier than average brown ale, and it has a bold malt presence. Light-bodied and more dry than sweet. A solid brew.

Bottle, Liquid Solutions. Appearance is that of coffee with alot of grounds floating around. Strong roasty aroma. Almost smells like a smoked. Lightly bitter roasted coffee flavor up front. A little bit of hop flavor. Burnt malty finish. A touch watery, but overall quite enjoyable.

FlacoAlto (3152) - Tucson, Arizona, USA - JAN 13, 2006
Pours with a frothy, thin, quickly disappearing pale amber-brown colored head. The beer is a deep brown, almost black color and shows a brilliantly clear brown hue when held up to the light. The aroma is a mix of lightly roasted notes, almost a candy sweet note of caramel & toffee, which tends to meld into and accentuate a light chocolate note. The aroma is much more characterful and interesting than I was expecting.

The taste is pretty dry up front, and in fact throughout. There is a touch of caramel-like sweetness, but this beer remains light on the palate throughout. The finish is sharp with a bit of hop-bitterness and a lingering note of roasted coffee beans. The roasted coffee notes lightly dust the entire flavor of this brew. All in all each of the flavors in this brew are fairly light. This is not a brew that demands your attention, instead it is an easily quaffed brew. Nice and easy drinking, with just enough flavor to keep it interesting.

This is a very drinkable brew. Mahogany with reddish highlights and a brief-lived bubbly tan head, it’s got a chocolatey, light roasted malt aroma. Nicely carbonated, the aroma is repeated in the flavor, and it slides down real easily. A simple, satisfying brown ale.
