1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Nemo (100) - Fremantle, - JUN 25, 2004Dark Gold colouring with a decent sized cloudy head. Hint of malt aroma. Very watery, bland and flat. Had to scratch my head over this one. Had to recheck what I was drinking. Disappointing effort from Coopers here.
2.2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 8/20 voota (765) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JUL 30, 2007
I dont see the point in Coopers making this beer, anyone who already drinks coopers probably drinks it because it tastes better than the macro stuff, and anybody who drinks VB drinks it because ’its bloody great’ (not my words). This is pretty much on par with Tooheys new in my opinion, not abrasive like VB, although it does have some light vegetable and perhaps a tiiiny bit more hop flavour. Why bother Coopers?
2.1 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 DuffMan (5202) - the land of bitumen, beef & beer, Alberta, CANADA - SEP 20, 2005
Aaaahhh Coopers! You couldn’t just stick to what’s best (i.e. your ales and stouts), but for some reason had to offer this completely featureless, totally average bland macro-style pale lager. It’s alright I guess, but compared to what you are best known for, it’s a disappointment.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20 JoeMcPhee (7625) - Toronto, ON, Ontario, CANADA - AUG 3, 2005
375 ml bottle. Pale golden colour. Very grassy, hay-like aroma with a touch of noble hop spice. Flavour is a bit dusty and stale but there is some candyish sweetness. Adjuncts are noticible. I’ve had worse, but I’ve had a lot better.
1.9 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 bluevegie (3004) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 24, 2005
Slightly hazy golden orange body with a fluffy white head. Aroma was a let down, it was dusty and off-putting. Taste was some malt and not much else going for it, still I managed to knock back a couple .
2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 ALLOVATE (2112) - Butler, AUSTRALIA - DEC 4, 2004
I actually bonded with this beer in Adelaide, for the culture did not accept my type (The anywhere but Adelaide type). I drank it because it was beer, now a Cooper’s member I am safely back in Perth, where microbreweries rule, and I can pass judgement. Medium carbonation, medium-light body and a short aftertaste. Aroma is dull, if not there, of phenols and a slight malty backdrop. Flavour is coppery and slightly bitter, with small traces of malt and a hint of DMS (not a good thing). Cooper’s must have bowed to Macro-pressure to produce this one, still a decent brew that has it’s place.
2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20 madquacker (951) - Canberra ACT, AUSTRALIA - AUG 3, 2004
Horses for courses. This is not up to the Coopers usual standard but against the Aussie macros its not too bad. Seems to be a deliberate attempt by Coopers to dumb down to the market. tey have succeeded.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 Muggus (193) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - FEB 17, 2004
Very weak malt aroma. Pours straw with sizeable foamy head. The flavour is not to my liking. Quite a strange sodary carbonation to it. Quite a watery flavour with a bit of bitterness and hop action, but not much to speak of. Definately not you'd come to expect from a Coopers beer.
1.9 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 8/20 Winchester (75) - Struggle Town NSW, AUSTRALIA - NOV 11, 2003
It seems Coopers decided to develop a brew for the idiots who cant get enough of VB and the like.
0.9 AROMA 1/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 1/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 5/20 farmboy (218) - Barwon Heads, AUSTRALIA - OCT 6, 2003
Surprisingly bad beer from a brewery that usually rolls out some pretty drinkable stuff. tastes too much like a mainstream beer. Coopers should stick to what it dfoes best and that's doing things a little differently
