1.8 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 OlJuntan64 (1266) - Perth, AUSTRALIA - JAN 21, 2004
Amber gold clear under a medium small size, shortish lasting off white head. Faint stale biscuity malt aroma. Thinish low carb soda watery body. Flavourwise it reminds me of a weak and watery ginger beer. Mild bitter light grainy and biscuity malt sweet and a touch of sourdough sour. Macro brew drip tray finish. tray Characterless and a long way from their vintage brew.
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20 duff (5483) - St, Margarets, Greater London, ENGLAND - DEC 21, 2003
One of the most boring beers i've ever had, seriously. Pretty clean and all that, but watery and bland. It shares more in common with a standard Aussie Premium lager than anything else, but maybe thats what they were going for? If so, Coopers are taking steps back rather than forward, what happened to the Vintage Ale this year guys?
1.7 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 madquacker (867) - Canberra ACT, AUSTRALIA - MAY 21, 2006
By Coopers standards this is pretty bad. Over sweet and sugary. What is with the heritage bit... Very out of character for this brewer.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 vanvenlo (852) - Glen Iris, AUSTRALIA - JAN 17, 2007
25 Apr 2006 - Very light sweet hop aroma. Clear amber colour, reasonable head and lacing. Hoppy low malt flavour. Thin, simple hop finish and aftertaste.
1.6 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20 gulf690 (21) - AUSTRALIA - APR 1, 2005
I expected something, but got nothing from this. Looked like a weak bubbled (amber) water in the glass and wouldn’t hold a head. Nose was dull and had a cardboard tone to it. Very thin on the palate and absolutely no follow through. Bottle was in date, but I suspect it had been treated poorly (or Coopers got it really wrong)
1.4 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 4/20 mullet (849) - Melbourne, AUSTRALIA - JAN 31, 2004
Scores highly for appearance, everything else about this beer pretty much sucks. Tinned spaghetti, metal and cider aroma. Slight nuttiness which I also find in VB, slight sourness and a bit of bitterness hidden in there. Actually the more I drank the more I thought of VB, but from Coopers I expect (slightly) more. Fizzy. No good.
1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 eczematic (1297) - Sydney, AUSTRALIA - DEC 21, 2003
god help us. well i don't believe in god so i guess nothing will help us from this festering turd of a beer. now that coopers have signed a deal with the devil and got distribution with bud they think they have to brew a revolting sweet adjunctfest. tastes halfway between corona and heineken. ugh. the smell is dusty, corn-heavy, with thin cardboard malt and a trace of passionfruit from cascade. tastes of what. i dunno, like a sweaty, cheesy crap dutch lager with extra fruitiness. watery finish, sweat, sweaty, pineapply, with zero bitterness, only a faint astringent tang from the superalpha. yecchh they can suck my dick.
1.1 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 4/20 Dredd (591) - Bentleigh, AUSTRALIA - FEB 15, 2004
I found this beer BAD BAD BAD BAD! This is a real dissapointment from the Coopers brewery. It is as if they had a think tank that said "We need a beer that will appeal to the average Australian, lets make something that is as bad as VB & Crown Lager". There is nothing redeeming here at all, it has a sour aroma and strong bitterness from what I assume is pride of ringwood hops. This also had a fuzzy biting mouthfeel akin to VB. This is as poor and sad as Empire Lager. Problem is fat businessmen with no taste will probably crap on as to which is better, this or Cascade.
