Nice clean drink but seemed like something was missing, might be a good summer beer on a hot day but not a good dinner beer

2.6 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Found notes from my 2009 trip to Australia. The poor man’s sparkling ale. Cookers sparkling is much more lively and more flavorful. Just an ok ale. Some hops and grains.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
375ml Bottle from Coppers, Gosforth, £2.09.
Slightly hazy Golden amber beer with a diminishing, bubbly, off-white head and moderate carbonation. Small amounts of sediment line the bottom of the glass. There’s sweet, gassy, over-ripe tropical fruit in aroma that is a touch sickly. It smells more like a pasteurised beer than bottle conditioned though its obviously a live beer. The taste is surprisingly sour with some pear and grapefruit and maybe gooseberry flavours. The mouthfeel is slightly tacky with a sugary aftertaste. Not what I expected. A bit of a strange beer. Okay on the whole. 2.9

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
375ml bottle. Pale golden-orange colour, hazy, nice lasting white head, quite a lot of dark sediment floating around though. Aroma is light malty, yeast, with a flavour to match, some citric notes. Light body.

1.3 AROMA 2/10 APPEARANCE 1/5 TASTE 2/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 6/20
Terrible. Tons of sediment, a ridiculous amount. Tastes like an American macro. Corn, metallic, with a bubbly finish. I’ll pass.

2.5 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle BBE: 05.05.17. Cellar temp. Pours a dirty gold body with floaters and a medium, loose, puffy off-white head. An immediate, intense metallic note emerges first when poured, with more medium rhubarb, peach and strawberry aromas underneath. There’s a generic, lagerish pale malt character and clear notes of Belgian yeast and refined sugar. A light, artificial sweetness is lifted off the tongue by a high carbonation, with a moderate bitterness coming through. Light in body with a thin, sparkling texture and an abrupt finish, this is a poor offering from a brewery of some repute.
