UPDATED: NOV 23, 2015 2008 bottle from Keg Liquors; split four ways. Aroma: A nice treacle pudding type nose with some raisin and nuts. Appearance: Unfiltered cola brown pour with a bone colored head that settles into a ring. Flavor: Still a fairly vibrant, maltier beer with raisin/sweet malts up front, and an almond liqueur sharpness towards the finish, which has an earthy dryness (pride of ringwood?). Palate: Medium body, sticky texture, flat carbonation, bitter (for the style) finish. Overall: I thought this was still a very enjoyable ale, even at itís age. While it seems that others have not appreciated the 2008 vintage on the same level I have, I definitely think itís worth a shot, especially if you like aged ales of this kind.

Bottle from 2015 (cellaring another for comparison). Pours cloudy amber with ale yeast and sweet malt on the nose. Rich malt profile for the tastebuds that help hide the ethanol. This is the best beer in the Coopers range in my opinion.

2008 vintage : a hazed dark amber ale with a thin creamy mocha head. In aroma, sweet fruity vinous malt with treacle, licorice notes, light grassy hops, nice. In mouth, a sweet fruity caramel malt with light vinous notes, light grassy hops, light oxidation, very thin, past its prime.

2014 Vintage. 355 ml. bottle. Faint brownish amber, little in the way of head. Little tanned head largely on the sides. Nose is caramel malts, sugar, faint iron, light oxidation, some spices, faint herbal, overall sweet, malty with light oxidation. Taste is light iron, oxidized caramel, malty, feels a bit empty, touch spices, sweetish, light nuts, touch caramel, touch oxidized nuts, quite a bit of orange peel. Feels rather empty despite the malts. Descent but seems to miss the things necessary to make it great or solid even. It is nice but come across as being somewhat hollow & empty.

Bottle. Dark brown hazy muddy. Buttery dark caramels, smooth, nice bitters. Feels a tad thin though for the impressive flavour.

Ótima cerveja. Um bom amargor é um bom amora. Comprei no pão de açúcar. Vale tomar novamente. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
